Just wanted to share what a group of my coworkers and I are doing. We each put $50 in a pool (there are 8 of us involved right now). Whoever loses the most amount of weight by April 1 will win all $400!

More important than the money and contest, though, is the fact that we all get together and walk during lunch and hold each other accountable for eating the right things and getting exercise. It's WONDERFUL to have the support at the office.

Good motivator! When you win you can take everyone out for pizza and beer! (kidding, just kidding)

Best of Luck!

We don't have a pool going at work, although that is a great idea, but a ton of people are doing this. It is really catching on. When I started 4 months ago, I kinda kept it quiet to avoid critizism, but now it is the "cool thing to do" to loose weight. Everyone is aware of the carb counts. One woman, who is not doing this WOL, said the other day, "there are 54 carbs in my skittles, that is out of control". I find that more people are aware of this nuttition aspect now.

Good idea, I should do that. Wait a minute, I work in this office alone....hmmm, that won't work.

Tia,

Since you work alone, how about setting a goal of say 10 or 15 pounds for yourself. When you get to the goal, reward yourself with something non-food related. A massage, a new CD, etc?

I like that idea!
I once made a $100 dollar bet with a coworker who could lose the most weight in 6 months. I won with 54 pounds to her 39. Men lose faster and she knew this but figured since she was 80 pounds heavier than me she'd lose more. I did feel guilty taking her money and treated her to dinner at the restaurant of her choice drinks included. so I had a night out and a few dollars left over.

A friend in my moms club group is doing this with some friends she has at the Y. They are doing $1 a day for 140 days. They have to do several things (meditate for 10 min, drink their water, not cheat, weight loss etc...) and get points based on the completion of each of those things each day (on the honor system, of course). The winner is the one with the most points at the end. There are about 10 of them, so the pot is around $1400... not bad for 140 days of living right.
