I dont know why, but I gained a pound this week. I followed the diet to a t. I even walked three times this week.
I am not going to let it bring me down. Perhaps, it is water weight. I didn't drink as much water as usual yesterday.
I am going to watch my calories a bit this week. I may try replacing one of my meals with an Atkins shake.
I hope everyone one else had better luck this week!

Good luck all!!

Yeah, I did too. Bummer. Anyway, I'm moving into OWL starting today, so for induction I lost a total of 16lbs. That ain't bad! I know the loss will begin to slow down, so I'm trying to get psychologically prepared for that. I haven't started working out yet, I plan to ride my bike today. Maybe that'll make me feel better about adding the 5 carbs. I'm a little scared...

I'm the type of person that will be petrified to move beyond induction. Is it harmful to remain on induction for extended periods of time? I know that when/if I move on to OWL and falter a bit, I can always begin induction again. I just don't know if I would be able to suffer through these headaches again.

Congrats to all of you for your dediction and resolve! I wish all of you the strength to reach your goals...whatever they may be!

Seesko,

Can I ask, do you take your measurements? If you have just started walking for exercise, you may be building muscle. That is more compact than fat, but weighs more. It's very common to see an increase in weight, but a reduction in measurements.
Also, a one-pound fluctuation in weight is normal, too. How often do you weigh yourself? I only weigh once a week, on the same day each time, and take an average for the month. This gives you a much more realistic number than weighing each day...too many variables to give an accurate idea of how you're doing.(water and food intake, er, output, TOM; things like that.)

Great job Chrub!
I only ended up down 5 punds for induction! However, five is betteer than none!

Clemmy, In Dr. Atkins book he says it is fine to stay on induction. However, it is my understanding that you body will become very sensitive to carbs. Therefore, when you do eat carbs again, you will be more apt to gain weight. I suggest you read "Unreasonable Fear Of OWLs".
AS far as the bad part of induction. I am willing to bet that it will not be as extreme if you go back to it from owl. The reason is that while on owl you still will have a low carb intake, you will still be in ketosis. Therefore, your body will not be having an extreme change when you go back to induction.

I suggest you add at least 5 carbs this week (coming from veggies or a little fruit). See how you do. Then maybe next week you can add 5 more ect.. As long as you keep losing weight (though it willbe slower than induction).

Good luck all!!

cHEFTRINA,
i HAVE YEST TO TAKE MY MEASUREMENTS ALTHOUGH i HAVE BEEN MEANING TOO I need to get my butt to the store and buy a tape measure.
I don't think I could have gained muscle for only 3 walking ssessions but who knows.
I have to have my husband hide the scale from me or I willover weigh myself. I did this this week.
The scale has now been hidden from me until next Sunday! Maybe the whoosh fairy will come!

Good luck all!!

Unreasonable fear of OWLS

Here's a link to Unreasonable Fear of OWLS.

I can gain and lose the same dang pound for a month. My loss has definitely slowed, but I am eating this way the rest of my life, so I don't worry about it. I am doing an egg fast today, just eating eggs all day and then a good LC dinner. That always seems to jog things lose. I don't recommend this for anyone on induction however. Save if for later while on OWL when you get stuck. Plus, the water will be a-flowin' today!!!!!

Great advice, thanks all. BTW, where do you guys get the great smiley faces? I've used the ones in the reply box, but there's so many cute I've seen posted here, I just wondered where they come from!

Cher, I do searches in Yahoo and use the term: smilies You get a zillion hits. I look for ones that have the code availabl and then copy and paste the codes into wordpad. I also have my wordpad open while posting, so I can go grab a smilie whenever there's one that's appropriate that I have stashed.

Here's a good one: http://www.smiliegenerator.com/

Oh Gosh! That's why I weigh only once a month....I would freak...thinking I'd gained....

I might "suspect" I'd gained (like when I went on the fudge binge)....but since I didn't get on the scale to check...I didn't really "know."
(sometimes ignorance is bliss)

Actually, I've been that route before....on all my many attempts at "dieting" in the past (even sometimes with success...temporary success).......and I've learned that the "stress I suffered" over that gain would only get my started on an eating binge and that was very self defeating for me...*sigh*..

I'm happy to be weighing in only once a month..(at least for the moment...)

Luv,
Ginni

You can gain a pound just from drinking a large diet coke before you weigh. That's one reason why a one pound fluctuation means so little.
