Just a little shopping hint...

We went to Sam's Club over the weekend and bought some Atkins Ice Cream Bars. These are the vanilla ice cream bars that are covered in chocolate on a stick. They come in packages of 12 for $7.88, versus the local grocer price of 4 for $4.99. Just a little deal of the day. These are good for a treat every once in a while, 3 net carbs each.

I tried those once, and they gave me stomach cramps. Those ice cream bars are the only LC treats that have ever made me feel sick. Enjoy them if you can as YMMV.

I had one yesterday afternoon as a snack, and didn't have any problems. Yes it is YMMV!

YMMV is right! Boy, if I ate any ice cream bar, low carb or no, that would send me into an ice cream binge like you wouldn't believe!! I'd be all over Haegen Daz Chocolate Chocolate Chip by the next day. I envy you guys who can add this to your OWL or maintenance. As I've said in another thread, for me, it's not only the carb count, but what the taste does to my urge to binge.

So far, berries with my own hommade whip cream (thanks for the recipe, Char!) is the only treat so far that hasn't sent me over the edge.

Cherub, glad you're able to enjoy that at least!!

"My" Costco had the Endulge ice cream cups, 6 vanilla and 6 chocolate, for $9 or thereabouts. I didn't buy any this time but probably will in the near future. No ice cream bars yet, but maybe they'll get them eventually.

I'm fortunate that I CAN enjoy one of those without any undue effects!!

I was at Wal-Mart yesterday and they had the most wonderful stuff. It was ice cream made by Breyers and it was low carb. I think it was 4 net carbs. They had samples, so I tried the chocolate. It was so wonderful! I couldn't tell any difference from regular ice cream!

Be careful with that Breyers, if I remember right it has corn syrup as one of the ingrediants. FYI...

And watch out, as with any of those treats, ALWAYS have them as part of a meal. Sugar alcohols do process in most of our systems as carbs, although less than sugar. You can knock yourself out of ketosis really quickly using them. I know I can anyway

Loves,
Breyer's low carb icecream knocked me straight out of ketosis. No cheating going on so I knew that's what caused it.

Just a heads up.

Thank you. I couldn't have said it better (and I've tried...believe it). I also envy those who can eat those things and not be affected by them.
