My Mom gave me a book YEARS ago entilted "Sugar Blues." You can read more about it here:
Sugar Blues

I cannot eat sugar because of the crash afterwards.

I definitely think there is a correlation between the two. When I eat something high sugar/high carbs, I feel really hyper and awake for a couple hours and then have a major crash. I also suffered from depression when I ate low fat/high carb. Since I have switched to LC WOL, I have not had even one symptom of depression. This WOE has wonderful extra 'side effects' besides just losing weight!

I don't get this effect, but boy DH sure does! He gets a horrific crash after ingesting sugar-laden stuff - about an hour or so later. The only cure (previously) was to eat some MORE of the offending item! He could (and WOULD) eat a whole tray of iced cookies from the bakery at the local grocery store. UGH!!

Now he knows what it does to him so pretty much avoids those things - but when he has an occasional lapse, and does eat any of that garbage, he lays in a bunch of protein and some fat. That seems to quell it for him, but he still gets a headache! Serves him right!
