Hi!

I had a major craving for Mac & Cheese today at lunch. (Didn't help I was making it for my DS ) But while I was dealing with this craving I realized what a dumb craving it is... powdered cheese, "white" pasta, comes in a box... You'd think I'd have a craving for something more decadent - Godiva truffles or something.

So I am wondering if any of you crave anything as unexciting as I do? (Wonder Bread, perhaps?)

(And please close this window if just thinking about it will make you want to cheat! )

I had the weirdest craving the other day:

Ramen noodles.

Barf!!!

It lasted about 10 seconds, tops. I can't imagine putting that in myself or my kids now!

Blessings!

Tonight I made my kids a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup for dinner.

I have grown up since the original made on white bread with american cheese.
They hade whole wheat bread and a combo of cheddar and mozzarella cheese. Still not good on this woe, but man oh man I wanted it!...BAD!
I had to leave the room until they finished them. I told them they had five minutes or I would have to throw them out!

So, a mild craving right...

Hey, Mada, I live in Billings.

I don't crave much right now--I can still eat my favorite foods, which are mostly vegs and cheese. But I can understand wanting those things from time to time. I used to make killer grilled cheese sandwiches in my Foreman grill.

At least I can still have the cheese.

Man, I never crave the bread products... but the other day we were at a friend's house for dinner and they passed around a plate of After Eight dinner mints. Good grief!!! It was all I could do from passing out from the overwhelming desire to eat, uh, like ten of them.

My only negative reaction to this whole WOE is that when I do binge or cheat - I have lost all the control I used to. It's either nothing or overkill. I can't try just one cheeto - I have to have a bag full - oh, and it is eaten at lightening speed. Buy a baby reese's PB cup? nope, if you're gonna eat one - buy the super-duper size and gobble 'em down.

Why is that? Who knows. All I know is that I can't have even one and that knowledge alone keeps me on the straight and narrow.

Hugs,
Rachel

Tara, I'm with you........POPCORN!!!! The good news is that it's a relatively low glycemic food, relatively. So, when I get to maintenance, I will indulge occasionally, especially on an exercise day. Baked potatoes still call my name too. Those will be added back during maintenance as well, just one here or there, the red kind, a small one. I don't have a problem with that stuff kicking my butt, so I figure I will be able to control myself.

Hey, a lot of that stuff you can still have -just modified a bit.

I make grilled cheese using hoffman's extra sharp cheddar (YUM!) and 2 slices of JoeBread (6 carbs) or a latortilla factory tortilla (3 carbs -put cheese on half, fold and grill both sides. Even better, add some canadian bacon.).

Pizza? Try the deep dish pizza quiche in the recipe database. Or make it using a tortilla shell for the crust.

Peas -snow peas are allowed -even during induction.

The thing I crave if I crave anything non LC is cream of tomato soup (not just plain tomato soup) topped with extra crunchy cheetos.

Just like seeing and smelling certain non-LC foods, reading about them can trigger cravings for some people (like me). In consideration for them, maybe we should talk about how we handle those cravings, rather than making each other drool over foods we've already decided aren't going to be a part of our healthier WOE.

JMHO as a currently struggling to eat clean LCer.

With that in mind...
Clemmy! You can do this. You don't want sugary pasty goo in your body!! Just walk away. Literally. Go for a quick walk somewhere else, or eat your lunch early so you're too full to even think about eating anything else!

Good idea Becca.
I am now craving ALL of the things mentioned! So I will go make a cup of coffee and come back and read all about how wonderful everyone is doing.

Plus I will remind myself that I am seeing the 120's again...Something I haven't seen in over 5 years! I don't want to do ANYTHING to stop that progress!

LOL!! I was a good girl. I walked straight past them and got myself some water. If the craving gets to be too much, I will grab myself a caffeine free diet Coke. That always works for me.
