Is this really a supplement, an appetite suppressant, a stimulant, or what? I hadn't been using it, but then bought it the other day. I took one before I exercised this morning, drank 32 oz. of water and then threw up. It says to take it an hour before your meal, but if it makes you nauseous on an empty stomach, what should you do? What's your experience? TIA!

Blessings,
Cindy

I actually did use this for about two months - I would take it in between breakfast and lunch (when I remembered!) I didn't have any stomach problems with it, but I'm not exactly sure if it helped or not.

It's marketed as being a little of everything - I started them because I was at a stall for a little while. I did break the stall while taking them, but I don't know how much credit I can give to the Accel - I did make some important dietary changes, too.

After awhile I stopped them, mainly because I didn't notice a dramatic difference.

I did have the reactions you mentioned after taking ordinary multiple vitamins on an empty stomach. You should be sure to eat something substantial before taking any supplements.

Good luck!

I started taking these a week and a half ago. I have noticed that about 45 min after I take them I do get queezy. Once I eat a bite or two it goes away though. I am not sure if they really help though.

Guys...that stuff is junk. It's full of stimulants, and it's just not good for you. (And it sounds like your bodies are trying very hard to tell you this!) I've seen quite a few patients in my line of work that have had some pretty scary experiences taking supplements with similar ingredients; reactions ranging from palpitations, insomnia, nausea/vomiting, to the really scary stuff like hypertensive crisis and losses of consciousness. Please be careful with those 'thermogenics'.

I have also tried these Atkins Accel supplements. I used the whole bottle and didn't see any change. I don't know if they help on a tiny level (cellular), but I wasn't able to notice any change in weight loss/appetite/mood/energy, nothing at all.

And becuase these pills are not free, I never bought any more. A Daily vitamin is fine for me.

I am using them now and when I took two before a meal they did make me nauseaus(?) I started taking one and am fine. I do notice they make my already small appetite smaller. I may switch to a multi vitamin when the bottle is all gone, I like them though and don't have speedy heart that I have had in the past.

I bought them, and I tried them for two weeks, to give them a fair trial. I didn't notice anything: no bad side-effects, but no good ones, either. So I stopped taking them.

I don't, as a rule, believe in taking anything that is going to artificially jump up my metabolism, but, after a three-month stall, I was ready for a little help. No such luck there. I'm going the egg fast route for the next two days. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

I tried them during a stall, too, and felt just like Trina--no bad results, no good results, just no results at all. After finishing the bottle, I saw no reason to buy them again.

I do use the Dieters Advantage on occasion, the Essential Oils and, depending on what's on sale vitamin-wise, the Atkins brand vitamins sometimes.

I don't understand why the diet says no caffeine, yet Accel has caffeine in it. Doesn't make sense to me.

My point exactly. Of course 'Atkins Nutritionals' really has fallen off course of the way Dr. Atkins advised people to eat.

Wasn't Accel around before Dr. Atkins died? Have they added caffeine to it since his death? I do know that caffiene is a big no-no according to the good doctor.

Yes Brownie, but 'Atkins nutritionals' was a separate entity from Dr Atkins and his involvement in it was limited even before his death.

quote:
Because the diet doc didn't really manage the products business, his loss is not acutely felt there.

Atkins' medical practice was just that, and that was what he was involved the most in. Atkins nutritionals is a business and is run like one. If people are going to buy 'themogenic' products, then they're gonna sell em, regardless of what DANDR says about caffeine. If people will buy convenience foods, Atkins Nutritionals will sell em, despite the the advice of Dr Atkins to 'shop the perimeter of the grocery store, buy foods in their most whole and unprocessed state'.
