Hey, I just saw on the news tonight that Lou Malnati's Pizza (In the Chicago area) is coming out with a Low-Carb pizza option! I don;t know all the details, but it apprently involves toppings on top of a Sausage base. It is currently available at only one of the locations now, but will shortly be at all of the locations.

I plan to try and find out more info tomorrow!

Here is the information from Lou Malnati's!

quote:
Here are the facts on our new "crustless" pizza!

-Since 1971, deep-dish pizza lovers have enjoyed Lou Malnati's
Chicago-style pizza.

-Customers who are wheat intolerant have been asking Lou Malnati's to
develop a pizza that they could enjoy without the wheat products that
are used in the crust.

-Many other customers who are following a low-carbohydrate diet like the
Atkins or South Beach program have also looked for a way to enjoy Lou's
pizza without compromising their diet.

-For these reasons, Lou Malnati's has developed a crustless pizza that
looks, bakes, and tastes just like their regular pizza.

-The pizza is available with any of Lou's regular toppings but requires
a base of sausage, cheese, and tomatoes.

-The crustless pizza was developed in the newest of Lou's 21 locations
in Evanston, IL. The pizza debuted on Friday, January 23, 2004 in this
store. The Lou's in Lincoln Park has also started to serve the pizza.

-The other 19 Lou Malnati's locations will start serving the crustless
pizza within about a week. You can find a complete list of our
locations at http://www.deepdishpizza.com/locations.html

-Lou Malnati's Pizzeria is a family-owned company that stresses
consistency in quality, service, and food, offered in a unique
environment by a staff that is committed to one another, the customer,
and the community.

Thanks for writing,
The Malnati Family
