I don't trust them!

And even if the do block the Starch from being absorbed, I don't think they do a thing for the sugars in the food as well, which will cause your blood sugar to spike, which is what we don't want.

I never seen any reports on tehm on whether they reallly work or are just another scam, but if they do work, and you know that you may try some high carb foods or desserts at a party, then I see nothing wrong with using them if they work, better than not I guess. but that is my opinion.

I'm scared of trying them, but curious at the same time. I dont even eat the low carb convenience foods, I don't see them as real foods. heh

The starch blockers are scary, I wonder if I did take one and actually eat something, would I end up in the ladies room for the rest of the nite.

I think I might just try to duck out of this dinner.

I've heard they have terrible intestinal side-effects. Is it worth it? An Italian restaurant should have some kind of grilled chicken or other meats and Salads and veggies available. You probably won't starve if you choose carefully.

I haven't tried them, but a friend of mine did. All they do according to her is act as a laxative. I don't think that is the way I would want to go.

Good luck all!!

Merdiva, the Italian place I frequent has a great stuffed shrimp dinner that is low carb. The shrimp is stuffed with spinach and mussles and scallops and no breading. Now, when I go in, the waiters already know what I want. It's delish!! i bet you'll find something on their menu that's not "pasta-centered". Bon Apetit!
