Anyone else out there hosting, or attending a Super Bowl Party?!? We are hosting a party and looking for some food ideas. We, the hosts, are the only ones LCing. I think that I will do some wraps (lc for us, regular for everyone else), some little wieners, veggie tray, and some wings. The guests are going to be bringing an item to share, potluck style.

Any other ideas or suggestions?!?

NOT GONNA QUIT!

chili without beans is always good. You could put out a dish of beans if anyone wants to put some in theirs. Have shredded cheese and chopped onion available too.

I'm going to a SuperBowl party and bringing a veggie platter with dip, some low carb tortilla "pizzas" with bacon and cheese and stuff. I'm also going to concoct some kind of dessert thingy to bring too. I have to take a look at the dessert recipes here and in Sharron Long's cookbooks.

We are serving - spinach dip with celery, wings with bleu cheese, nuts, ham roll-ups,mexican fudge, cheese and meat tray (some bread for those non-LC), condiments, oh, and a veggie tray, of course!!! Good luck to you.

Can you eat chili while in induction? Even with no beans it's reeeeally high in carbs.

Chili without beans is mostly meat. You get some carbs from the tomato sauce, but for the most part it's ground beef. I will be making my own to bring with. The host of the party always makes "burn the hair off you head" chili that is waaaaaaaaaay too hot for my delicate tongue to handle. I add chopped bell pepper, some minced onion, garlic, spices. It should not be too bad without the beans. I'm not sure what the carb count would be for my homemade, haven't made it yet. The carb counts in my counts book for chili without beans is pretty high. HHHHHmmmm, I wonder what's up with that? I am going to be using HUNTS tomato sauce and canned diced tomatoes, which is no sugar added. the 15 oz. can of sauce contains 8 net carbs and the diced tomatoes contain 16 net carbs. I will probably use 4 cans of sauce and 2 cans of diced. That is 64 net carbs, But if you figure out how many servings it will make (I'm guessing about 16) that's 4 carbs per serving. Then a couple more for the peppers, garlic and onions, the spices will be negligable. I would imagine store bought has a lot of filler stuff in it, I don't know, I don't buy it.

I think we're deep frying chicken or doing the seafood thing - shrimp, lobster, etc.

Barb -
reading your post on Chili - I went out and checked Skylines. I always was a plain chili (no beans) bowl. it only has 4 carbs and doesn't look hateful on anything else.
Ok, I'll have to not use the crackers, but I still could have the cheese (although it would be a days allotment).
Thanks. I can still go to Skyline!

I just agreed to have some of my family and friends over for the big game. I will be making a host of things... So Saturday will involve a lot of shopping... Raw Veggies & Dip, Stuffed Mushroom caps with parmesan cheese, mini meatball (maybe some bar-b-que sauce on the side to dip in), ham and cheese roll ups (maybe with a little pickle in the center), a salad, cheese and sausage platter and maybe even a cheesecake with a nut crust for dessert... Wow I have a lot to make...

Now that I think of it, I will get some chips or pretzels for those who are not low carb… And drinks of course.
