I know that some people do not count calories, but I have been recently. I would like to know from those of you who do watch your calories what you shoot for. I use fitday and watch my calorie intake to my calories burned. My calories burned is always more, so that is good. I shoot for 1200-1500 but often end up closer to 2000. Is this good? Good luck all!! Seesko starting date 1/5/04 242/234/135 "What my mind can envision; my body can master!"

When I first started it was closer to 2000 a day, but I've noticed that I get full faster now. I don't want to get below a certain number per day either, though. I think 1350 was my lowest day. I just try to keep it below about 1700.

When I started counting calories with fitday, I decided to shoot for 1800. While I had a couple days in the 2000 to 2200 range, I consistently averaged around 1700 to 1800, right where I wanted to be. I lost fine at that level.

Originally, I thought it would be wonderful to stay under 1000, but realistically to not feel deprived and find a number I can live with, I decided to stay under 1500. Peace, Joanna Atkins since 12/3/03 299/269/130

Seeska, Hate to say it but this is one more of those YMMV. I vary any where from 1000 to 2300 cal per day but generally around 1600 cal. I have calories as a part of my tracking sheet only because I was wondering if it made a difference. It doesn't make any difference for me. For me what seems more important is not eating or carb drinking after 7pm at night. travellost-51 yrs Young 1/20/03 195/145 first time 1/5/04 second time 150/147.5/135 "I am allergic to carbs they make me break out in fat"

| Seesko, calorie requirement is entirely individual. At your posted "current" weight of 234, you'll need more calories just to maintain your basic energy level than a person weighing, say, 150. I'd suggest that 1200 is way too low for you--your body may resist letting go of stored energy, "just in case" it's not getting enough to eat. Sorry I don't have a link to some calculators for you. Do some research, and you're sure to find one. I've found that I can eat relatively more calories on low-carb than on low-fat. However, daily exercise is still an important component of my weight management routine--for keeping calorie burn higher, and for maintaining and building active muscle tissue. Barb L.
