Hi Everyone. Does anyone else have a special outfit or jeans they keep as a motivation to reach "goal" weight? I saw an ad on TV for yogurt where a woman is trying to fit into an "itsy bitsy teeny weenie yellow polkadot bikini" and I was wondering if anyone else used clothes as a motivator on this WOL.

I have been fitting into clothes that I havn't been able to wear for years...Since I have over 100lbs to go, I have no clothes that small in my closet (been big a long time), but I am enjoying wearing clothes I havn't been able to. I still have a few more surprises I can wear for a while then I will have to buy clothes that fit...

Where in NJ are you from, I grew up in Newark, and my mom currently lives in Whiting... how is the snow...

Hi. I have a couple of things that I am just a leeettle bit too big for right now. I'm shooting for that short term.
Medium term, I am throwing out (or donating) clothes the SECOND they are too big so there is no flexibility for "growing back into them."
Long term, a friend and I are both striving to not have to wear shorts with our swim suits. and also, I'd like to buy some leather pants in a size 8. If I can't get an 8, I'm not getting them. I can wear the 12 now, and I almost got them, but I don't see the point when they won't fit in a few weeks.

This is probably more info than you were looking for, but I'm chatty today for some reason!

What's funny is that I bought a pair of size 10 capri's 2 years ago as my "goal" pants. I couldn't fit into them this summer so they sat in my closet. I'm now at an 8. I guess the pants will be too big now. This WOL is so amazing!

I live in Somerset - central NJ. It's so cold here - was -20 below with wind chill last night. We only had a few inches of snow, but the wind is fierce. Needless to say, we're all looking forward to spring!

Amen to Spring!!!

I don't have "big" clothes. I have given them away as soon as they don't fit!

Also, I don't have very many "small" clothes. I've been fat for so long that I haven't kept them. I can't store much.

I have bought a few things as I have dropped the weight and outgrown them before I could wear them. But, that hasn't happened much.

I'm in a 14 comfortably now. I might see a 12, but I will be surprised if I do.

It's 6 below zero right now here and almost noon. I don't know what the wind chill is. Our furnace hasn't gone off for more than 24 hours. The bill will be fierce!

Peace, Peg

I always did that when I was losing weight...bought clothes that were too small as a motivator...I bought some size 8 jeans in March and coudln't even get them over my legs! (But in September, I finally got them on comfortably) Now I'm between a size 4 and a size 6...one of my friends is in the process of losing weight as well...and being that she still has about 50 lbs to go (she's lost 47 lbs over the past 3 months), I pass my big clothes on down to her...I just recently went through my closet and tried on all my clothes. Some of the ones I hadn't even worn yet were a little on the big side in the shoulders...at least I know I'm losing inches...even if the weight has slowed down...

Right now I do all my shopping at Goodwill or clearance racks. I always buy 1 thing in the next size down and hang it next to my mirror in my bedroom. It keeps me motivated. The first size was a 24 hanging there. Now it is a pair of 14 size pants that are just adorable.

Absolutely! And my "goal" pants are saggy now.

The other day, I bought the best-fitting jeans I've ever found. Thanks to Atkins (and ice skating) I can finally look in the mirror without seeing only thunder thighs. The jeans are Lee Rider "Ultimate Fit" stretch denim. They hug my hips, do not bag at the waistline, and I love 'em. (At Wal-Mart.)

I've always done that, too, buy jeans in my "goal" size. Doesn't seem to motivate me though--I've had a size 14 jeans in my close for about 15 years now!! No kidding! I'll probably get into them several months from now, and when I do, it'll be just my luck they'll probably fall apart because they're so old!! I can't seem to give them to goodwill, they're sooooo cute! Ah well...

When I meet my BF I had jeans that I could no longer where as they were too tight, about 2 months ago, I had to get rid of the pants as they are now too big, 6 years later. It was a long time coming, but it feels good to know that I am lighter/smaller than when I meet my BF.
Crazy!

I have to admit I can't figure out wearing size 8 or 10 if you're over 150 pounds. Once in my life I squeezed into a size 7, and that's when I was 115 pounds. Can someone explain this? I have small bones, too.

Sure. In some cases, we are in better shape (more lean muscle mass, so you may weight more but actually be smaller). But, let's not kid ourselves, the clothing manufacturers are doing naughty things withe the sizes. Since smaller sizes sell better, they just make the smaller sizes a little bigger and call it a 6, for example. In highschool, I wore a 7. I weighed 118, and I was in way better shape than I am now. I now wear a 4. Another example. I bought a size 6 skirt off of ebay (love that place) that was a couple of years old. The waist measure the same as the size 4 skirt I bought last week.

But, DO NOT get discouraged. As far as I am concerned, we have all done d**n well, and we have earned every size of skirt, jean, whatever.

yeah... I guess that I have a rather weird body! I know that I have muscular legs from playing hockey and soccer in high school, and that I don't have much of anything for hips. I am very straight down, not many curves from the waist or hips. But I do have a rather large rib cage and broad shoulders. I am pretty sure I have a med-large bone structure.

Terrasanct - I think a size 7 is Juniors.

I think it's a height/weight thing. I weigh 144 today and fit comfortably in my size 8 Ann Taylor dress pants. I am 5'7. I generally don't think anyone who weighs more than 150 is a size 8. For me, when I was 154, I had on size 10 Gap jeans. Some brands run big or small as you know.

I don't know what size i'll settle into, i'd love to be 135 and buy all new clothes for the spring. I agree with the others, and have started packing all of my 12's and will give them to a local womens shelter. Some are brand new, but I never want to be that size again unless I am PG at some point and that's different.
