I have been averageing 1300-1500 since I started tracking with OWL. and hitting the 24-25 carbs daily.
I'm not sure the calorie count is up where it should be, but I just can't eat anymore during the day. (and I am sleeping at night)
I am also in the ratio of 65-70% fat, 3-5% carbs, and 30-33% protein.

I think 1700 sounds a lot more healthy than 1000. Your body won't want to let go of any weight if you eat that little!

Crystal,

I do about 1600 on the average. If you were only eating 1000 cal during inductance you were not eating enough. I was about 1500 with a few lows days because I got to busy to eat. You need to get enough protein and fat into your diet at first. Seems to weird to add fat to lose weight. Too much incorrect information for too long that eating fat scares us. It did me last year but I realize it doesn't mean anything.

Folks,

This is not a low calorie way of eating. When I was a newbie, the oldbies recommended I eat between 1500 and 2000. I found I generally levelled out at around 1800.

Please, don't worry about calories. Just count your carbs and eat until you are satisfied. You need to adjust to a whole new way of thinking. You might even want to consider not using fitday or whatever service you are using to track calories if you can't "ignore" them.

When I did this woe in the beginning, I just had a little notepad that I put tally marks on to record my carbs as I ate them. I lost 70 pounds over all doing that.

Eat when you are hungry. Don't eat when you are full. Drink your water. Watch the cheese. Don't eat LC junkfood. Do these things and most folks will lose quite readily.....

Blessings!

Guys,

Listen to Sharron, please. Since this is posted in the Atkins forum, I assume that's the plan you are all on. Read DANDR, and see what the good Dr. has to say about calories and metabolic advantage, especially when first starting.

Ditto...

I think it's more important to keep your blood sugar and insulin levels stable than to cut calories. Take care of that, and your reduced appetite will gradually take care of the rest.

Ditto the above advice! I use fitday but calories are the last thing i look at. First make sure your carbs are where you know they should be. Then make sure your protein isn't too high or too low. Let the fat fall where it will. The only good reason to track calories is if they are too low.

From the faq at the atkins website:

"Research has shown that on a controlled carbohydrate program, more calories are burned than on a low-fat, high-carbohydrate diet, so there is a certain metabolic advantage to the controlled carb approach. But understand that this does not give you a license to gorge."

If you are used to counting calories and are more comfortable with such an approach, the general rule of thumb is to multiply your present weight by 10 to 12 to get the daily caloric range at which you would lose weight. For example a 150-pound woman who consumes 1,500 to 1,800 calories daily should continue to lose weight"

ok. then I am way too low on the calories. I am not trying to stay low. I really just cannot eat any more than I am eating. I am at the 25-30 in carbs now - and just can't figure out a way to get more in me.

I am just not hungry at all - and definitely not for sweets or missing carbs. just not able to eat any more.

And I like this lifestyle, but just can't take on any more veggies. I really don't know what to do. Weight isn't moving at all.

I'm still more energetic than I have been in years (try decade) - and am doing Curves and walking on a regular basis.

So, I'm stymied. Avoiding the LC shortcuts - but I am an extremely picky eater. Always have been.

If I am running low on calories, I add an extra Tbl of mayo or heavy cream to my diet. Or I take a Tbl of VCO or all if need be. Things that are really high in calories are great for getting more bang for your buck. I hardly ever have to do this though. I eat all day long!
