I bought a box on sale at Wal Mart, thinking "ok, when I have my chocolate jones, I'll try one". I did. I have never spent so much time on the potty in my life.
There are 3 net carbs, but 14g of sugar alcohols. Needless to say, I passed them off on a guy in my office. It was really good to eat, but the end result (no pun intended) wasn't fun. I'll go back to my real food snacking now.

Read this for further nutritional info on the Slim Fast low carb bars.

I've said it repeatedly...I'll say it again...why would you want to put all of those chemicals into your body? If you MUST have something sweet, use real Hershey's unsweetened cocoa and add a little Splenda to it with a few drops of water, perhaps a handful of walnuts, and you've got a sweet, low carb, mostly natural treat without the sugar alcohols and bathroom duty.

It was a few weeks after starting this woe (again) that I learned of a new low carb store in the next city south of here. So I drove 30 minutes and when I got there they had samples of low carb everything. cookies, chips, chocolates in many falvor combinations. And soft serve ice cream. I sampled just about everything. I made my purchases and added another ice cream cup to go. I ate it in the car before I drove off. Well 5 minutes after i left I got that intestinal distress so many of us experienced. Unfortunately between that other city and my own is about 15 minutes of nothing except private homes. So I ended up driving all the way home in this condition. I made the 30 minute trip in about 23 minutes. I reported this on this forum as if I was the only one who had ever experienced this. I got a lot of chuckles from the group and a lot of useful information about sugar alcohols. I have had some low carb chocolates, 6 bars in a year. but never ate more than 1 ounce at a time. I fugure anything taht has the potential to do this to me isn't something I want in my body.

What a story Rob! I gave up lc chocolate. It also makes me very sick. However, my dh eats it daily with no problems.

Good luck all!!

I think it is always good to try things. LC bars and candy for me are a good substitute for other much worst things. I also use them when I am travelling something you can stick in a pocket. But I only do small quantities and not every often.

I apologize for sounding abrupt in my response earlier.

Please, take no offense. None was meant.

I do tend to get onto my soapbox at times. Please feel free to knock me back down to earth when warranted...
