If you have a Trader Joes anywhere nearby, that is the best place to get it -- cheapest, best quality.

Otherwise, go to your local healthfood store. Ask for a product that is "soy protein isolate" NOT "soy protein powder." Isolate is 90% protein by weight, the other is less. I know it is confusing -- in fact, I didn't know the difference until the testing process on my 3rd cookbook was underway

Now, the Trader Joes soy protein isolate, is actually labelled soy protein powder. How is that for confusing.

Here's the clincher: It should only have like 2 grams of carbs per serving. That is how you'll know if you got the right stuff

Try Wal-mart in the vitamin section. Spring Valley brand "Vanilla flavor" (yellow & green can). Has 4 gms carb per 2 scoops. Believe it was $5 or $6 for a 7 oz.can

Sharron, is that Trader Joe stuff safe? I was afraid to buy it. The list of ingredients was very long, and I think it included milk. Or maybe I was looking at the wrong product?
