you body is kicked out of ketosis after a cheat.

I had pizza and chips on super bowl sunday. Before that my keto strips were dark pink. On monday, tuesday and wed. the strips were also dark pink. I was very happy. Untill this morning when the strips read clear white. I went back on the plan on monday and ate the right foods.

could my cheat have been "stored" up for four days and now is just revealing its ugly head?

If your cheats were going to stop ketosis, then the strips would have gone clear within 24-48 hours. Your problem sounds like it is related to something else. Have you changed anything else that you eat? Why don't you post a typical daily menu so that we can see if there are any problems.

I don't have a typical menu. I will have a salad or subway wrap for lunch and then throughout the day will munch on appoximately 8 oz. of peanuts, a couple of slim jims, and occasionally some sf jello. This has been my menu for the past 5 weeks with great results.

Maybe I just drank more water than usual yesterday. I usually drink 64 to 150 oz a day just depending on what my day is like. i guess i will try again tommorow.

Oh yeah, the funny thing is that i also experience a whoosh this morning. 4 lbs. go figure

thanks

8oz of peanuts???? thats half a pound! You might not want to eat so many ,especially considering peanuts are beans and not nuts... maybe try a different nut, like macadamias in single serving pouches or brazil nuts.

No breakfast?
No dinner?
No substantial amounts of vegetables (hefty portions) throughout the day?
Your only source of protein are Slim Jims and peanuts and the 1 ounce of meat in the Subway wrap?
I'm not being judgmental. I'm just curious if that's what you've truly eaten each day for the past five weeks and if you consider that to be healthy eating.

I agree with April! That isn't healthy! It also isn't just low carb...It is low everything!

That is truly my typical menu. Now that is not to say i don't have chicken on my salad or a hamburger pattie every now and again. I have lost 35 lbs, feel great and am rarely hungry. I guess its a YMMV thing. I feel that I get plenty of energy out of my menu and probably rarely exceed 1200 calories, am male, and exercise fairly ofter. Also, I don't eat half a pound of peanuts but rather 8 oz volumn wise. (half a cup)

ON a side note however, i think the peanut gets a bad rap. Yes its not technically a nut but the health benefits of peanuts are numerous. It is full of healthy oils, protein and fiber. It is also a very satiating snack, portable and best of all, MUCH cheaper than the macadamia or cashew.

I am big into if it works don't knock it. As far as peanuts I eat them occasionally. I got tired of macadamia and instead eat walnuts, almonds and pecan. I can get these in large quantities cheap.

CONRATS on the 35 lbs.

The extra water can cause those strips to go clear or you can get a bad strip. I don't use the strips. If I am losing I don't care about the color of a strip.

YMMV is true for me to. I normally eat in the 1600 to 1700 calories a day rarely over 2000 calories and I am a woman and I exercise regularly. I eat lots of veggies and I lost 50 lbs in 5 months and kept all put 5 lbs of it off. Just trying to lose those last 10 I didn't lose last time.
