Well, I have been LCing for more than a year. One year ago today I found out this was the perfect way for me to eat. That was the day I finally got up the courage to step onto the scales and see if I had lost any weight on this diet. My clothes were lose and everything pointed to a weight loss but I was so afraid I would be disappointed once again with a diet. I was terrified that I was never going to lose those horrible 60 lbs and my health was going to get worse.

It has taken a while to incorporate this eating habit into my everyday life and my everyday choices but I did it. I am happy with myself for losing the 50+ lbs (just started working on the last 10). I have a whole new wardrobe. I am execising. My job has gotten better. I am going to walk a marathon in May with my sister. I may still not like to have my picture taken. Even at size 8 I think I look pudgy. Guess what, you cannot fix everything. On the other hand I do wear those tight exercise clothes that I thought I would never be able to wear. (they work for keeping me dry and warm better than other clothes in my climate)

Some of these things would have happened with or without the weight loss. The one thing I know is that my health would have only gotten worse and I would today be over 200 lbs, diabetic and on heart medication. That is where I was heading and now I am not.

But on the other hand I had a beautiful black beaded dress that I cannot wear anymore (The design will not alter well) People stopped me on the street in Vegas to tell me how gorgeous I was in that dress at a size 16. Well, we all have to make scarifices for our health

That beaded dress is a small price to pay for what you've gained in health and emotional well-being, not to mention what you've LOST in pounds and inches! Congrats to you!!

Trav, isn't this amazing. I am looking at my 1 yr anniversary this coming March 15th. WOW how the year has flown. And we've learned sooooo much haven't we? We've learned about better health, better eating, exercising, drinking water, and about ourselves and how we can do this and not feel deprived. How gratifying for ourselves and for others.

In the fall of 2002, I finally gave up on ever getting back to my healthy maintenance weight, and just wanted clothes that fit. So I had a seamstress make a custom pants pattern to fit my fat body, and a pair of pants from that pattern. Great fabric. An expensive job.

Then what?? I had an epiphany, and decided to go on Atkins. I lost all the extra pounds, and I'll never wear those pants again! Maybe I'll have the pattern reduced, too--but now I can fit in size 8 jeans off the rack, so why bother??

Congrats to us!

Congratulations, Travellost!

Me thinks it be time to shop around for a new black beaded dress. Maybe treat yourself to finding a talented seamstress who can make you a new dress out of the old one? Plenty of material to work with, no?
