Low-carb bread anyone?

"Ongoing Weight Loss" at Low Carb Diet Support: "Now, that I'm out of induction is it okay to eat low-carb bread, a slice maybe? Has anyone tried these breads? Or is the flour factor still not a good idea?...."

I do eat the Arnold-Atkins wheat bread that is sold at Wegmans (a supermarket in Rochester). It has 6 net carbs, but I try to limit it to 2-4 slices a week.

I make my own low-carb bread. Got the recipe from another site and it is delicious. Bought a rival electric slicer and cut the bread very thin. Works great for sandwiches, toast or as a "pusher". About 1-1/2 carbs. We get 30 slices per loaf.

The best tasting commercial low carb bread in this area, IMO, is by Natural Ovens. It tastes like a "real" whole grain bread, is a normal size, and is also a carb bargain at 3g net.

Unfortunately I understand Natural Ovens is only available in certain areas of the country. I've been really impressed by the quality--and, it's the only low carb bread my husband will eat.

However, Goldie, I'm sure you've already discovered that bread, even low carb, really should wait until you are further along.

The website for the bread is www.lowcarbluxury.html

Under "Breads, Rolls & Biscuits" choose - Gabi's World-Famous Bread

We really like this bread and by making it yourself you can slice it very thin.

Good Luck

IMO the best LC bread is made by Brownberry, they offer whole wheat and multigrain. It is the best and reasonably priced at 2.99. Available at Jewel in the Chicagoland area.
