I thought I saw this thread somewhere on the board...but can't seem to find it

Hubby and I went to Ruby Tuesday's today and saw several YEAHHHHHH things and one or two "not so yeah" things.

First off....salad bar was awesome!! 20 choices on menu of low carb selections. I had a chicken dish with bacon/swiss cheese, broccoli (not buttered I noticed) and mashed cauliflower. Now, the cauliflower was good first bite...after that it had a 'floury' taste to it. Hubby had the low carb fajitas (which aren't all that low carb at 26)...but they brought him regular tortilla's at first instead of the wheat.

Now the best part, which I have yet to eat, is the low carb cheesecake with nut crust at only 6 carbs!! I brought a piece home for later. BUT...the menu advertises it with a strawberry sauce. I asked our waitress, and yes it has sugar so I didn't get it Disappointed they are advertising it with the cheesecake though if it has sugar in it.

The one plus...which was funny to me, was Splenda packets in the sugar dish on the tables!!!! Hubby and I were just talking the other night about we know how far restaurants will come when they start putting it on the tables and VIOLA there it was!!

All in all...thumbs up to Ruby Tuesday!! They even had a small menulike book that explained the benefits of low carb diets, their salad bar do's/don'ts...and the benefits of full dressing vs. low fat dressings!! And it was on every table, not by request!

Wow. I can now really understand why everyone is raving about Ruby Tuesdays. I have not yet been there myself, but it sounds like a low carb paradise. There is one only a few blocks from home, and every time I pass by, I can't help think about Barb's cheescake. I can't wait to go there. I will visit them soon.

That is great news since I will soon have one about 2 miles south of my apartment complex. I love Ruby Tuesday and TGI Fridays and they supposedly offer a LC menu as well. They had a story on our local News station last week on LC eating and all the benefits-several things they did mention were yet to be determined as it is a recent craze so the long term effects were only documented for like 10 years but the results short term were astounding--short term on there being drawn out to as far as two years.

DH and I went to RT's for V-day dinner last night. Oh MAN were they busy!!!! I brought cheesecake home with me last night too. I am hosting a support group meeting at RT's starting Tuesday, Feb 24th. The manager is all kinds of behind it. I think it will be a great place to hold support group meetings. I can't wait!!!!!

So far we have done TGIFridays, Ruby Tuesdays and O'Charleys. honestly, the only disappointment was RT for us. and I think it was just a fluke.
Hubby was nice to take me there, and my mean (and cheesecake) was wonderful. But he had a steak (can't remember what kind) and it was mostly gristle. So bad that when he was done it looked like one long intestine left on his plate.
He says he'll go back with me, but stick to a cheeseburger or something - but I feel bad when he had to suffer. And I know we should have complained, but that always ruins a nice night out too.

so, I don't know. we'll see. I did like it cause it is in a mall and if you have to wait it's not so bad.

I went today and had a wrap and a piece of cheesecake....oh what guilt. I just kept asking the waiter....are you sure this is the low carb wrap....are you sure that this cheesecake is low carb? It just all seems too good to be true!
