For those of you who don't know, I make signs and banners for a living. I got to thinking, I ought to make my local Starbucks a sign and ask them if they'd hang it up.

So I did and they did! LOL

I made it for free, I just wanted to see if people would order it if they saw a sign up. The girl says people are loving it!

She told me that they're supposed to ask corporate about this type of thing but they didn't. Takes too long and they'd probably say no, don't hang it up!

    Here's a pic...

    Too funny

That's neat. I've always been afraid to order at starbucks but now I'm writing this info down.

Andrea, it’s just the little sign right in front of the cash register. I made it in colors that would blend in with the Starbucks décor, I guess I did a good job! Hey, maybe too good?

This is what I get when I go in there; it’s a grande drip with an add shot of espresso. They call it a “Red Eye.” Then have them add sugar free vanilla (the only flavor they carry ) and have them top it off with steamed heavy cream.

HOWEVER, make sure you tell them you don’t want the cup filled with half cream. You want MOSTLY the coffee and espresso shot and just “topped off” with cream. About an inch worth.

As long as they don’t put more cream than that, then it will run you 6 grams of carbs.

    Coffee 3
    Espresso 1
    2 oz. cream 2

    TOTAL = 6

If they make it like a regular latte with lots of cream, then it’s going to be 10-12 carbs. So make sure they just put in about 2 oz. If I’m at an SB that doesn’t know me, I hold my fingers together about 1” to 1.5” apart and say “about this much cream” Otherwise, you’ll get too much.

Some of the SB call this a “misto” – a drink kind of like a latte but not with as much milk/cream.

Hey, if you guys all start asking for this, then maybe corporate will make their own signs for the stores and you’ll know who started it! LOL

I assumed Starbucks wouldn't steam Heavy Cream - and I didn't even know they had sugar-free syrups there!

Part of the reason I gained so much weight was my TWO VENTI MOCHAS every day.

I was just checking FitDay and coffee only has .118 grams of carbs per fl. oz. You would have to drink about 25 ozs. to get 3 carbs. The USDA says zero carbs per oz. I am curious where your 3 carb count came from?

Congrats on the signage, no matter what the carb count is. Corp America is really starting to pay attention.

Information gladly given, but safety requires no unnecessary conversation.

Hey Marcielynn, I think they should give you pay you nicely for this. Those Corporate guru's make all kinds of money for coming up with these ideas. If they can why can't you?? Just a thought!

Starbucks has a few sugar free syrups, not just vanilla, and they will make a latte with soy milk if you ask for it. I had one with sugarfree vanilla and soy milk on my field trip with Ilse, BC, and Barb Keith. YUMMY! It was like having dessert!

    Hi Sean -

Well, I'm mostly using the SB site itself. Different types of coffees have different amounts of carbs and so I've taken the higher value to be safe.

A Grande brewed coffee has 2 Carbs

    A Grande Americano has
    3 Carbs

I go with the latter just in case but you would probably be fine to call it 2.

An espresso shot is 1 carb

Heavy cream is roughly 1 carb per ounce depending on the manufacturer but 1 per ounce is a safe call.

Just remember to stay clear of the Mocha Frapps - they have a whopping 61 CARBS!!!

That's going to be the REAL revolution - When SB comes up with a truly low carb frapp!

    BTW, GEOFFREY...

Those Venti Mocha's have 51 NET CARBS! So 2 would 102 carbs.

I think it's a REAL good idea to quit drinking those

Joanna - That's good to hear. All the SB I've been to around here only have the vanilla. Hopefully they'll be adding more flavors soon!
