After a very disappointing loss of 2 pounds this week, I have decided that I am going to be strict this week. I know 2 pounds might sound good, but I was doing so much walking and watching calories (all but one day, Thursday, right before TOM) that I really expected a whoosh.

Here's my problem. I have been swept in by low carb junk. My husband and I have been eating low carb tortillas, the bake mixes, and even had a lc bagel this weekend. It doesn't seem to affect my husband, but I think it does me. So, I am forgetting all that junk (I know I have said this before). However, I noticed that alot of my carbs are coming from this junk!

Here's my plan: Induction style eating for the next two-three days. Then I will go back to OWL, but without the lc junk. I'll have my carbs from my veggies only.

Anyone want to join me in saying no to all lc junk this week? Could use a buddy!

Good luck all!!

I'm already doing a dairy challenge, but I do know how you feel. I never lose when I eat the "junkfood."

I seem to be ok with about one serving a week of the bread or tortillas. The bagel sent me on a craving spree last time

Hope you get some buddies in on this one. I can' only "do" one challenge at a time!

Blessings!

Yeah, your carbs should be coming from vegetables, not the "junk".

I think it's wise that you recognized what was going on and are going to keep it in check. Some people just jump in and "do Atkins" from day one, and they eat the low carb products hand over fist only to find that they don't lose weight or they gain weight and then emphatically state: "Atkins doesn't work for me" and then they quit.

I think it's a good thing that you had this short exercise in determining what will and won't work for you. It's all about tailoring an eating regimen that you can live with, and finding what you can, and can't, eat.

I'm still learning, and I've been doing this nearly 6 years.

Hey Seesko
I'll join you! The only lc "junk" I've added is the tortillas, but I'll go this week without them and see how it goes. As I said in another thread, I gained a pound, up to 285 this morning!! Let's check in this week and see how we do.

Cherub I wouldf love the company. I am giving up everything that claims to be lc. I am also ditching my spleda desserts for the week. I want to see the difference. Strictly meat, veggies, and eggs for this girl.
Be as stict as you want, but I am glad you are with me. Together we will get smaller and healthier.

Good luck all!!

I am sooo thankful for this website. I think I may be discovering the cause of all my frustration with not losing on induction. I thought the Atkins bars and shakes were OK for induction, and I am reading that this is not so. I wasn't overdoing it, but have definitely used them for a crutch with my evening coffee. Actually, that's a bummer, since those junk foods were making it a lot easier, but if I'm not losing weight, then I'm with you guys! No more junk food for me. I will miss those darn chocolate decadence bars, though!

LOL! This is the "double-edged" sword that I'll be dealing with daily in the LC store. It will be full of "junk" in many respects, in addition to some good stuff, of course. If your customers aren't successful, then they won't be customers very long.

The biggest thing that attracted me to Castus, though, was their emphasis on counciling and support. They require your store to conduct frequent seminars on low-carbing, and to provide a high level of support to your customers. I'm really looking forward to it, but I can see how a store full of temptations will make it complicated. Hope I'm pretty close to maintanance by the time the inventory shows up!

I just found this wonderful LC Chocolate Syrup from Sorbee. It is sweetened with Splenda and is 15 calories and 4 grams of carb for each 2 TBS. serving. It was located in the "Health Food" section at my local Safeway store. Helped with my chocolate jones(which when watching DW buy See's candies was particularly stimulated this weekend).

Just thought I share that.

I have not used any kind of "unnatural" carb source (except that aforementioned chocolate syrup) since starting this time. All my carbs have come from Veggies and nuts and stuff. When I did this WOE two years ago I had great success, until I started to add those things to my menues. I am firmly convinced that they resulted in the stall and subsquent failure of by plan back then. Thanks to this and other sites I am better imformed and much more "intuned" with how my body and this WOL works.

Cheers,

Information gladly given, but safety requires no unnecessary conversation.

I haven't been eating any of the processed, atkins easy foods, and I think its really helped my weightloss continue, I went one week and ate 3 of the atkins ice creams in that week and I hardly had any weight loss. This week Im not going to eat anything except for real food and see how it goes.

Wish me luck too

I just wanted to wish everyone good luck with cutting out the LC treats.

I am also doing induction with another member for 2 weeks. We are cleaning the "junk" out of our systems .

Mikey, I think you will do great at your store with all of your experience. You should be able to steer your customers into buying the right foods and leaving the treats for ocassional eating.

I was in Trader Joe's and one-fourth of an aisle was devoted to all these carb bars from the top shelf to the bottom shelf. Boy, is society buying into this convenience low-carbing or what

Seesko, what a wonderful challenge. I think I will jump on board this one. I have been making "legal" sweet treats myself. I just can't figure my stall out. I am going to snack on veggies and dip, Olives, ham roll ups, just like I did when I was on induction. I'm going to give up the sweet treats for 1 week and see how it goes. Thanks for the incentive!!!! (I don't do LC convenience foods, but what the hey)

I am glad your aboard Barb, as with everyone else. I tell you i ddin't realize how much I relied on that stuff. Last night I was dying for some creamcheese and splenda (my quick generic version of cheesecake).

Good luck all!!
