This is my first time on the board and I am into ongoing weight loss, I have been o =n low carb now for 6 weeks. I've loost 15-18 pds and I have been increasing my exercise. Today I am 46 yrs old, wiegh 178 pds and am 5 ft 7.5 inchs tall. Question...when you lose 15-18 pds as I have, you notice the lose skin not a lot but enough that yo notice; does this ever tighten up as you progress through exercise? Please let me know!

Welcome to LCE and congrats on the weight loss!

Yes, your skin will tighten up. You're not too old for that to happen if that's what you're thinking. (I'm also 46. ) You've lost the weight really quickly, give it a bit of time. Be sure that you're eating enough, getting all your veggies in, taking whatever vitamins you need and drinking plenty of water.

Regarding the skin problem, working out will help that, as the muscles will make the skin tighten. I would recomend looking at the end and the second page of this thread for more information.

    Vernon,

It's been my experience that it will tighten eventually, especially with exercise targetted to the area.

For me (I'm a guy), my gut and chest were the largest repositories of fat. Initially, though I dropped a ton of weight, the areas where I was heaviest were noticably smaller, but I still had the skin and a thin layer of fat in those areas.

So I worked especially hard on exercises that targetted my pectorals and abs. Lo and behold, a few months later, my "keg" has turned into a four pack.

Just be patient and remember that just as we don't get fat overnight, we won't be thin and muscular overnight.

    Geoffrey,

Thanks alot for your feedback, just a note, my starting weight was 195 roughly 6 weeks ago and its 178 and just from the picture you added our body types were very similar. I hope to acheive the same kind of results as you. I am working out twice a week at the YMCA primarily stationary bicycle or basketball and 3 times a week at home with dumbells. Can you tell me hopw long you have been on low carb and what kind of regimen you follow as far as exercise goes!

    Thanks Much!
