BUT ... albertsons..(i live in idaho) put a sign on their door last week..."COMING SOON.. low carb take out",,, it mentioned a dinner of i think 8 pieces of chicken... nice.. but the THILLER was mock potatoes MASHED CALIFLOWER... i know.. i know.. is that AWESOME or WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!!!!! of course.. i live 50 miles from there... but whenever i stay at a motel to swim for the weekend... i KNOW where i can get a nice takeout dinner now...
do any of your local grocery stores do this? i have NEVER seen a deli in a supermarket with mashed califlower to go with the baked chicken takeout.. lets all petition WALMART... oh yeah baby...:-)

Just make sure to have them check the actual INGREDIENTS for you so you KNOW what's in there - someone posted earlier in the week about Albertson's supposedly low-carb fried chicken, asked for the ingredients, and the first thing was "flour" - buyer beware as always!

It would be GREAT if they actually could make a LC mashed cauliflower, I wouldn't mind picking some of that up occasionally when time runs short!

I'm in Florida and our Albertson's flier this week is advertising "watching you carbs??" in the deli area. Yes, it's fried chicken and yes, MASHED FLOWER!! They even include chicken caesar salad with the "family deal" of it here.

I wouldn't think they would add milk to the Caulimash, it's watery enough as it is. I would watch out for thickeners being added, such as corn starch or flour. Make sure you ask them what's in it. But that's a great sign of the times!!!! Restaurants here are getting on the bandwagon all over the place as are my grocery stores.

Kim,

LC at Alberson's - that would have been the last store I thought would start this. I haven't really felt much "LC love" at that store (I live in SLC, UT). I'll have to check our stores here.

Sometimes I will get the fried chicken and just peel the fried crappy stuff off. Works pretty good.
But yeah, it would be pretty cool, if Walmart would start selling LC to-go stuff.

Thanks for sharing, Kim!
