Good evening all. I have been lurking about these boards for several months and only signed on in the past month. I thought it was about time to intro myself. What a pleasure to find such a knowledgeable and sensible group concerning this WOE.

Years ago I used to follow the CAD WOE with great success. I found controlling carbs was the only thing that ever reduced the severe reactions that I had to my unstable blood sugar levels in between meals(headaches, nausua, stomach pains, shakes).

I stopped doing low carb during my pregnancy 5 years ago and had an extremeley difficult time returning to the fold. Subsequently I managed to get up to about 174 pounds and a size 14.

If I had known then what I know now I would have stuck with a low carb way of life. I finaly said enough is enough and got my hands on Dr. Atkins NDR and have managed to lose 30 pounds with about 5 more to go.

I don't post often but I have been immensely enjoying reading your discussions. It is nice to feel like I am not alone in this WOE. What a difference from when I orignally started controlling carbs almost ten years ago.

Hi libaki! Welcome, I too realized the same thing about LCing, and have come back to it again, this time for good.

It is wonderful how much support there is here - really helps get through each day. Good luck on the final 5 lbs!

Nice to meet you, Libby. Congratulations on your 30 pound loss, that's fantastic. Great strides have been made in the LC world. Better understanding from the general public and finally medical professionals are more accepting of this WOE/L.

Stop by the forum often. Best wishes!

Take care~

Welcome Libby
Since you have blood sugar and insulin issues (precursor for diabetes), you might be interested in reading some of the info in our Diabetes Support forum.

Good luck!

Captain, the entity has uncloaked and it's NOT a Klingon vessel, it's a really nice carbon based life form!

Welcome, Libby.

Thank you all for the warm welcome! Bright Lady thanks for the links on the diabetes issues. Although I have never actually been diagnosed with any blood sugar problems, not even during pregnancy, all of my symptoms should have been red flags. If it hadn't been for the Hellers original CAD book all those years ago I never would have known what my body was trying to tell me. Thanks to this WOE I have been symptom free for quite sometime.
