You guys are always so helpful thanks. So based on my subject ive been on owl for about three weeks and have lost about 20lbs so far since the beginning. Im trying to add more carbs but Im scared of a stall or something it seems to be going good. I have added a bit more veggies but would it be good to start added some of the good low carb stuff back in to me. Such as a sweet or something. Im afraid of a stall any suggestions.

Check out the thread titled "Unreasonable Fear of OWLs" at the top of this forum. It provides a great discussion of this topic, and should help you feel better about moving on to the next phase.

You're doing great so far, so I'd suggest continuing on with the Atkins plan as written...the guy did know what he was talking about!

In my humble opinion, the longer you can go without sweets of any kind, the better. The Atkins book and website provide lists of specifc foods to add back in as you transition to the ongoing weight loss phase. Look for the "carbohydrate ladder".

there is also a link somewhere to the atkins site which has an article about the power of 5, it gives you a list of 5 carb foods broken down in their categories, like veggies, nuts, dairy, fruit and juices. I have it copied and on my wall at work to let me know what I can add when I need it.
like:
1/3 cup blueberries (fresh)
1/2 california avocado
3/4 cottage cheese
14 halves walnut
those are all roughly 5 net carbs....
hope this helps, let me know if you need more info.
( I don't know how to add a link, maybe someone can add it for me.)

Gradually add more carbs like the book describes. The longer you stick with whole foods the better. Use the carb ladder as already mentioned to know what to gradually add back in.(more veggies, nuts, berries, ect)

In my opinion, the wisdom in doing this is to give yourself a chance to really internalize what it means to feel good and let your taste buds have a break from unnaturally sweet foods you have eaten in the past. You know what is possible. If later, you decide to experiment w/dangerous carbs you will have laid a solid foundation of what works.

Many feel weight loss is helped by not staying at 20gm of veggie carbs per day, that it actually helps you in the long run to move into OWL.

You are actually more likely to cause a stall by keeping your carbs too low. You went on induction to clean out your system. But, your body does need healthy carbs, like the LC veggies, some berries, and on from there. Otherwise, your system may interperet the lack of healthy foods as a form of starvation and turn what you do eat into fat. It may stop losing weight too. Dr Atkins has his WOE set up for a purpose. He wants people doing his WOE to be healthy.

And, in my humble opinion, I agree with not eating sweets of any kind. I've just gotten over the most horrendous months long indulgence because of my falling to Christmas sweets.

Stick with Atkins suggestions, at least for the next several months. You'll feel better and look better too.

Peace, Peg
