Have you guys heard of Diet Lean Carb Blocker tablets? Do any of you use them/are they safe to use? I wasn't thinking about using them everyday but wondered if they would be ok once in a while like if you knew you wanted to do a "planned cheat". I'm just really wary of diet products in general & wondered if they were really safe. The D'lites store near us now has them (they're the store that has the most low carb stuff I've seen).

I've never used Carb Blockers (never needed to) and I hear that they can cause intense intestinal distress. just FYI.

I have not heard of a single pill that does not have some type of risk of side effects. With the exception of vitamins and minerals, IMHO it is a bad idea to take anything that you don't medically need.

I have to agree with Barb and Paladin on this. If you have already bought the pills and insist on using them then be very selective about when and how often you use them. Pills are no substitute for self control and aren't you afraid they'll stir up cravings and addictive behavior that this woe had conquered? JMHO

No, I haven't bought any. I was just trying to get more informed info on them. The store where I get most of my low carb stuff from has them and the guy there said that he used them & liked them. I wasn't sure how safe they were to use. (I really don't like taking medicine unless I have to anyway) Since a lot of people on here do "planned cheats" once in a while, I thought that if they were safe and worked well, then maybe they would help the occasional cheat not to cause you to gain weight. (also on the bottom of this page are advertisements for carb blockers, so that also made me wonder if they were ok) Thanks guys!

I'm not saying they're strictly forbidden. Just I see a big danger in having them around. If you could buy them 2 at a time I might be tempted to buy them. But to have a bottle of say a hundred. Am I really giving myself permission to ditch my eating plan 100 times?
My answer was really more about my fears for myself than your question, I guess.

Rob, I guess the two main questions are: 1. are they REALLY safe to use and 2. will you be tempted to use them way too often. Unfortunately, who really knows about the first question and the second question would probably be a problem for everyone! ha! As I recall they were rather expensive anyway. I got the feeling that the guy at the store that I talked to used them often. (but then he may have just been trying to sell his product too!)

The ingredient in these is an extract of white kidney bean. The only other ingredients are in the capsule - gelatin - and a small amount of filler.

So I can't see that they would be unsafe to use. As to whether or not they're effective, I've heard some people say they are, and some that they didn't do a thing for them!

I actually bought a bottle, which sits unopened so far - so I can't speak from personal experience as to the effectiveness. I wanted to have them around just in case I got stuck at someone's house for dinner with no good choices for LC eating.

I'll let you know if I ever DO try them!

I guess it may depend on the person then as to whether or not they work for them. I wonder how you would know if they did a good job, if for example, you only used them for 1-2 meals a month.
