i had been moving along with atkins wonderfully. Losing about 2 pounds a week and i'm 5 pounds from my goal. However, recently i stopped losing weight. I'm not sure why. Its been two weeks and nothing and i'm not sure what it is that i'm doing. I have occasionally had a " Baskin Robbins Sugar free hard candy" I've checked the carb levels it was around 12 but there were 12 sugar alcohols. I would only have maybe one a day. I've stopped having them but am still not losing anymore weight. Could these candies thrown me off? I thought sugar alcohols had little effect on your blood sugar levels and were "o.k" someone please help..
thanks
kat

You are in a stall. Dont worry. You said you are within 5lbs of your goal, so this is completely normal. You body is probably adjusting to your weight loss. Just keep doing what you are doing. Maybe stop the SF hard candy to see if that helps. Also, feel free to search past posts on the topic of stalls.

Good luck!

Sometimes upping the water will help a stall. If not, you'll have to wait it out. Never fear, there will come a time when the scale (or tape measure) will move again, just keep doing what you're doing. Maybe add a bit more exercise (but this could result in loss of inches and a slight gain in weight - muscle weighs more that fat!).

Good luck and congrats on being so close to goal!!!

Kat what you are experiencing is quite common as you approach your goal. Since you have been steadily losing at 2 lbs per week it is a good thing that your body is throwing on the brakes a little. This is the period of time when you need to slow your weight loss down so that eating low carb becomes second nature.

I hope you are viewing low carbing as a way of life and not just a diet. I know you are anxious to reach your goal.

I am extremely close to my goal weight as well. It has taken me three weeks to lose 1 pound. I also know that if I lose too quickly how easy it is to revert back to poor eating habits.

I strongly suggest reading or rereading the Premaintenance chapters of Atkins New Diet Revolution to reinforce why this slow down before reaching goal is a good thing.
