Not sure that Trader Joes carries pork rinds. But most grocery stores should have them in their chip section (Wal-Mart has them too). They look somewhat like curled, fat chips. Be careful though, I've found some to be EXTREMELY salty, esp. the HOT variety. When you find a brand you like, stick with it, you'll love the crunch.

They are in with the chips. I find them at Kroger, Walmart, Foodland. I can find pork rinds just about everywhere around here. If you turn up an empty search and get desperate, you can order them online or check one of those convenience gas stations. They sometimes carry unusual snacks.

They are crispy, pieces of...well...pig skin. Usually beige in color, sizes vary in each bag. If you buy the BBQ one, they will have a paprika type coating that will change the color a bit.

Now, how's that Peg, for "Pork Rinds 101"!

Take care~

The ones I get are Bake-ens and are in clear plastic bags, and are usually on the bottom row in the chip isle...Inside the bag they are non-uniform pieces the "hot" ones are coated with some cayanne I belive so they are reddish.
hope this helps.

I have those microwaveable puppies in the little plastic bucket but haven't tried them yet.

We love the Baken-ettes brand - especially the hot ones!

At our local markets, I find them in 3 different places, depending on the store - one is with the chips, one is with the tortillas, and the last one is in the Ethnic foods aisle.

If all else fails - ask someone - that's what they're there for, to make sure YOU the customer is a happy little camper!

I was disappointed with the microwave pork rinds. I can't even remember which brand, but they came packaged like MW popcorn. They tasted terrible. Char, maybe your bucket rinds will be better. Let us know!

They are a popular Mexican snack and are called "chicharrones". Maybe try a Mexican grocery, if all else fails.

Take care~

The only place I buy them (chicharrones) now is at a Mexican grocery. They are so much better then the regular grocery ones. They are fresh made and real big and crispy - great to melt a little cheese on and have "nachos".

I get the plain ones at Sam's Club to use mainly as breading in my cooking. My local low carb store also carries Gram's Gourmet cinnamon pork skins which are great for a treat and zero carbs. You can also order them online.

i buy the hot ones.. LOVE em.. are salty and can cause water retention.. but when you need crunch and spice they give it in spades.. i bought the micro type to try making the cinnamon ones but i did what it CLEARLY told me NOT to do on the label .. i OVER cooked them.. burnt the edges of a couple just enough to make the house stink.. and made the rinds ALL taste nasty..

heck yeah,, you can call me PANCAKE BUTT!!! *thanks rima*
