| Hi, This is week nine for me and I have lost a total of 17lbs(weighed today and was up .5.bs...but it is also my TOM and I had chinese last Saturday). I know I should be eating more carbs now....like 25-30grams...but I am satisfied with what I eat and am not hungry. I do seem to have a problem with energy...or just yawning a lot. I just started taking a multivitamin and have not seen much difference. I exercised three times this week and know I need to do more. Would eating more up my weight loss? I am in ketosis daily and drink lots of water...though I could probably need to drink more. My clothes are getting looser; I need to measure and see what/if any has changed. | Kristin - I think you should increase your carbs, especially since you seem to be losing energy. DANDR says that induction can be done for more than 2 weeks, but many of us find that it is too restrictive, and we haev just as much success in OWL. Try adding some nuts or berries and see if that helps. Jen 175/129/120 |

| Kristin, You are a newbie, so I don't expect you to know this, but MOST of us who have doing this for a while will tell you that staying on induction past 2 weeks is NOT a good idea. Yes, I *know* that Atkins "said it was ok," but those of us who have made this lifestyle a long-term decision -- and who have been around long enough to see the results of staying on induction too long -- will tell you that it usually backfires. What happens is just what you are describing. Often the person becomes easily fatigued or they stop losing. It's also harder to make this a LIFESTYLE when one's choices are so limited. IMHO, staying on induction-level carbs too long can adversely affect your metabolism, too. This has been proven by some low-carb-supporting physicians (like Diana Schwarzbein). For me, when I moved into OWL (ongoing weight loss), I started losing again and my energy levels increased. I truly hope this helps you decide what to do & I wish you the best, Summer www.herstorygirl.com |

| Besides nuts and berries....what else can I add back. I am not real fond of nuts or berries so they do not interest me. More salads...bigger salads? Sauces with low sugar contents??? I will plan to read the book again this weekend with particular interest in the OWL section. Thanks Kristin Atkins 1/12/04 214/195/170 |

| Sure more salads as well as more ingredients in the salads. More high fiber veggies. a small serving of almonds or macadamia nuts. It's really easy to add more once you decide that's teh way to go. Rob 310/228.5/180 Me, a skeptic? I trust you have proof. |

It has 12 g of sugar for every 8 ounces. A low carb yogurt should be ok though. Started Atkins on 9/20/03 235-->185; 150 goal |
