Lou:

What I love about LC is that for the most part, you can just eat food from the grocery store: meat, fish, veggies, and the allowed fruit (if you have made it that far on whatever program you're on).

The hard part for me was snacks. I can eat up nuts or a can of almonds like it's nothing! That can get "expensive" in terms of calories.

I am on the road a lot, and it's a challenge to get something to snack on that a) doesn't melt, and b)travels well.

My current favorites: Just the Cheese, and Heavenly Desserts Meringues (although I can't go overboard on them, if you know what I mean). I also think some of the newer Keto chips are much tastier than their earlier versions. I like jerky and beef snacks too, you just watch out for the sugar.

Lou,

Unfortunately, many (most?) of these supposed "LC" products cause me troubles!

The sugar alcohols (candies) nearly always spark cravings. The one exception seems to be that I can tolerate a peanut butter cup out of the s/f bulk candies once in a great while.

I've not been successful with ANY of the Atkins products I've tried. I've tried several brands of chips and the only one that doesn't cause bloating/spark cravings is the Trader Joes Flax Tortilla chips.

I do fine with the Gram's Gourmet cinnamon and Splenda flavored pork rinds, but not the cheese ones.

I can't do the bars or candies.

I seem fine with the Carb Options line of products so far from what I have tested (the teriyaki and BBQ sauces) and am going to experiment with more of those.

Gringo Billy's line of spices are all great.

I do ok with the Splenda sweetened specialty syrups once in a while.

I have to be careful with the LC breads/tortillas. I can have them about once a week. More than that, they knock me out of ketosis.

How I do best is by eating fresh meats and veggies.

Basically, the basics.

Sorry to be such a downer, but that is the way these products treat me...

Blessings!

I LOVE the BBQ sauce by Carb Options. Used it on the grill and added wonderful flavor. It didn't spark any cravings either!

I love the Tam-x-ico's wheat gluten tortillas. They are touted as low carb, but were around waaayyy before the low carb craze hit.

I eat two of them per week, loaded with lettuce, chicken or turkey, cheese, and mayo and mustard. They are my own version of Subway wraps, very filling, very satisfying and gratifying, do not cause me weight gain or stall, and have net 3 carbs each.

I like the DaVinci or Torani syrups. They're a staple for me. I use Atkins teriyaki, barbecue, and steak sauces. Carb Countdown milk and chocolate milk don't cause any problems and are good tasting. But as far as candy, chips, cookies, etc, I don't eat those. I've tried a few and they make me feel bad or they taste icky.

I have tried and loved the low carb peanut butter, Breyers Vanilla Ice Cream, although I have seen the Blue Bunny Low Carb, haven't tried that yet. I use the LaTortilla Factory Tortilla's and like them alot. Also have the low carb slim fast as I'm not a huge breakfast eater, and at first try I hated them, but this morning the 2nd one seemed better or else I was extremely desperate. I plan on trying the Atkins shakes next. Other than that I don't do many low carb products unless I have a huge major craving and that happens once in a blue moon. Hope that helps a bit

Just be aware that the carb control penut butter has trans fats (hydrogenated oils). There are all natural penut butters (with nothing artificail added) that are naturally low in carbs.

Started Atkins on 9/20/03

At the D'Lites store in NC I've found La Tiara taco shells. They're really good; taste just like regular taco shells! The only difference I've seen is that they're a little thinner and just a tiny bit smaller. They have one carb per taco. Also, Keto catsup tastes like regular catsup. Carb Options BBQ sauce & their steak sauce is also good.

I use Carb countdown milks (fuller fat versions);

I like Adkins steak sauce.

I like Walden Farm extra thick BBQ sauce.

I like DaVinci SF syrups (Raspberry, Hazelnut, French VAnilla are current favorites)

I like to have on hand Russel Stover sugarfree candies...mostly for psych reasons. I seldom eat one.

I use heavy whipping creme occasionally.

thanks kerry. On your recommendation I went out and bought some of the carb countdown milk...2% fat... I was shocked! I can't believe how good it is!! It beats that fat free stuff I used for years all to pieces! I recommend it to ANYONE who likes milk and hasn't tried it...
I hope more people post their likes and dislikes on LC products..I know it is helping me a lot.. Thanks everyone!
