WOW! what a wonderful response! thanks everyone!!!

I know I should be patient, but sometimes I just lose it. I have been exercising regularly, usually 30 to 45 minutes on my treadmill, but last night I was so down, I didn't. I thought, why bother? But I will get on it today. It's a stress reliever in itself and boy, have I had a stressful morning!

Since 3AM I've been up with an 8 year old with a stomach virus and slow legs. It's coming from both ends and what a mess! I've finally got him convinced to RUN to the bathroom before he even thinks he needs to. I have 3 other kids and I'm already stressing over knowing that they will get this, too, as well as myself more than likely. (it does have an upside, when I get a stomach virus I can lose 8 to 10 lbs in just a day! Water weight I know, but oh, it looks so good on the scales!)

In a calm moment I took time to eat breakfast. And I ate too much and the wrong thing: 2 boiled eggs, 2 large sausage patties (wrong things because although they are just 1 carb each, they are so high in calories!), an ounce of cheese and some leftover chocolate fluff (cream, cocoa, splenda whipped up. I shouldn't have eaten this at all). and I feel horrible. And on top of that, I really hate eating breakfast, for me it's like the appetizer for the day, triggering my appetite, and followed by too much eating, even of the right foods, just too much. When I skip breakfast or have just a cup of coffee, I tend to be able to temper myself better throughout the day. Maybe not EVERYONE needs breakfast? I'd rather do without it.

I do need to drink more water. I have always failed in that area, and I like water, it's just that I like diet coke better.

I do show a 15 lb loss, but yesterday my scales read 208. which is what brought on my discouragement and "despair". If it had at least still been 206 I would have been fine.

A large part of this is a planned camping trip on Memorial Day weekend with several families from our church. One of which is this friend who's now at goal and I'm still a cow. I had wanted to at least be 180, or better 170! I didn't want to spend the whole time being embarrassed to be seen in shorts, to have to wear 3/4 sleeve tops to hide my embarrassingly fat arms, or being constantly reminded of how fat I am by seeing how skinny she is (ok, as you can see, I'm blindly jealous, we were about the same size last fall.) Everyone is looking forward to this trip, I'm dreading it already.

And I wanted to be under 200 by my birthday, next Wednesday!!!!!!

My husband told me to stay off the scale. He said pick a day, and weigh on that day, monthly. I think I'll try that. How about the last day of each month?

for that woosh I want, I think the stomach virus would be much less expensive than the colonoscopy, but I really don't want either!

So, here's my plan. I'm going to up the water a lot, decrease the caffine (I'm having a withdrawal headache as I type), skip breakfast from now on (my choice!) and eat raw veggies for lunch and a meat for supper, and keep my treadmill busy at the rate of 2 days on, 1 day off. (and a little daydreaming about Johnny Depp LOL! )

I'll see how that does by my birthday and before we leave for our spring break vacation on the 14th.

Since you seem to need to step on the scalle daily(I am the same way) have you considered averaging your daily weights for the week and only comparing your weekly averages as opposed to going nuts over the daily flucuations? When I first started this WOE it really helped me.

I never tried averaging it. I don't weigh daily, but probably 3 times a week. I'm going to try to weigh just once a month or so. I will weigh myself Wednesday and then the day we leave for our spring break trip.

anck.. (((((anck))))))))
listen,,, i know you probably dont want to hear this... but i must tell you.. this trip isnt as important as the rest of your goal.. and if you get so worked up about LOOKING a certain size or WEIGHing a certain NUMBER for this trip... you may be tempted to cut back on not just BREAKfast . but other meals as well.. and then you are setting yourself up for feeling SO deprived that you give up entirely..
stop... take a deep breath..
you are stressing right now over your sick child.. wait until that that stress has subsided.. that ALONE might get the stall overwith.. stress does horrible things to your metabolism..
now.. worse case senario and you DONT look like you wanted to for this trip.. if they are WORTH going with and WORTH spending time with.. then ENJOY yourself.. because if they are your friends... they could GIVE A FLIP what you look like.. if they ARENT friends.. then why on earth would you worry about what they THINK..((((((((anck)))))))))

heck yeah,, you can call me PANCAKE BUTT!!! *thanks rima*

Ya know, through my LC journey of almost a year now, I have noticed that when I DON'T eat breakfast, I am shot for the whole day. I begin to get shaky and then a headache quickly ensues. I have a really HARD time making myself eat breakfast these days now, because I am back to work and have to be there by 6 AM. I do NOT want to eat breakfast at 5AM. I'm just not ready. But I do anyway. At that early hour, it has to be something sweet or I'll heave it everywhere. So I make Mock Danish, or Maggie's cereal, or have a bowl of Keto Cereal with cinnamon and stevia. I can stomach that kind of thing that early in the morning. If I decide to make a Mock Danish, I make it the night before, so it's ready for me. I also make my coffee, ala Starbuck's Frappacinos the night before, so that's waiting for me in the morning. I also pack my lunch too. But I DO believe eating breakfast revs up the metabolism. I don't EVER want my body thinking I'm starving.

I agree. I know it's frustrating...I can't seem to get under 200 no matter what I do, and it's been weeks. The scale has a fixation, I guess. But we're doing this for the long term. It sounds like you're cutting back pretty drastically, which is not going to help you lose weight more quickly; it will put your body into starvation mode if you aren't careful. Don't crash diet--this is a way of life.

I agree on the breakfast thing (yes, ladies, I am logging on from home as I finally replaced my laptop today - yippee!) I find that if I don't eat breakfast before I leave the house, I am not a nice Jen for pretty much the entire day. Like Barb, I get shaky and HUNGRY (ya know, where you could just eat the paint off the walls?) - I find that when I do eat breakfast, I end up eating less food over the entire day.

Anck, I know you have your heart set on reaching your goal in time for your trip, but it seems to me that you are losing sight of what is important here - developing a healthy lifestyle. To be perfectly frank, skipping meals and drastically reducing your calorie intake will not help you get to where you want to be in the long run. Please understand that I intend this solely in your best interests, that I truly want to see you succeed in your efforts. The overwhelming experiences here indicate that drastically reducing caloric intake is counterproductive.

OK, I'm done.

thanks y'all. I know all the reasons I should eat a breakfast, but... does a cup of coffee with cream count? Barb, what is Starbuck's Frappacinos?

I didn't stick with my own plan over the weekend. Maybe I am stressing more than I think over my ill children (my 8 y.o. is basically well now (sent him to school) my 3 y.o. got it Saturday, but seems much better this morning, but now my 12 y.o. is home with a sick headache, but no barfing... yet. I'm not feeling well myself, maybe the virus is getting to me, maybe it's just feeling so crappy about doing so horrible yesterday. I didn't stick with my plan, a low-carb plan or even a low calorie plan. I just pigged out. Even ate ice cream and popcorn, knowing I would feel so bad about myself afterward. I didn't care... self punishment for being so put-out with myself???

Praise the Lord for giving me another day, another chance, another beginning.

So, today for breakfast I'm drinking coffee. My stomach doesn't feel "right" so not only do I not really like to eat breakfast, but I'm kind of afraid to this morning, with the possibility that I may be barfing it all up later today... ick. Actually, I'm afraid of eating anything today for that same reason. I'm really not feeling well.

Usually for an upset stomach Sprite (not sugar-free) and crackers are recommended. So, what should I eat?

I had a similar experience over the weekend with eating bad things and knowing i should know better, so i know exactly how your feeling right now. Except my tummy ache was yesterday and eventhough i had the wrong foods i drank tons of water and today a i feel fine, like you said another day and another chance. I don't want to mess it up today.

Do you like soups? i love them and have them even when i feel great. My favorite is any type of hearty soup with cabbage, chicken, peas....and when it's almost done i chopp some brocoli into it. The soup make me feel better and i have to admit, the next day i'm not mad about the laxitie effect...sorry if that was too much info. I really hope you feel better. Hang in there!

Anck........Have you never heard of Starbucks? I make my coffee with: strong, fresh ground drip coffee, some chocolate Carb Countdown milk, a splash of cream, some stevia and some Irish Cream Davinci or Torani s/f syrup. It's awesome!!!! bout 8 carbs per. It's a little high carb, but I only do one and sip it all day.

Thanks, I love soups, what a wonderful idea!

I did finally eat a brunch. I had a salad, kinda plain, (lettuce, spinach, onion, cheese) with ranch dressing and that didn't upset me tummy more than it already is. And so far it's staying down.

I really like the soup idea. I'll make that for supper.

Thank you again!

Barb, that sounds delicious! I've bought Davinci syrups before, so I know about those. I had heard the name Starbuck's but I thought it was a sandwich shoppe. Is it? We don't have one where I live.
