Beware: Venting ahead...

I'm so tired of a single pound here and maybe a half pound there. It's times like these that I'm tempted to give up and just starve myself, it seems that's the only way to get some major results sometimes. Especially when I feel like I've done well only to have my weight show an upward swing of 2 lbs. I don't care if it is just water weight or whatever, it's depressing.

Ok, I'm sorry I'm bellyaching about this to y'all, but I know that YOU know how I'm feeling. Frustrated.

My friend has met goal within 5 months. She lost about 60 lbs. Doing what? Weight Watchers. I really can't afford weight watchers, nor do I relish the idea of having to count everything in my foods or weighing and measuring all my foods, but it worked for her.

I'm just so put out with myself. I think I'm eating the right things (posted menus on another thread and improved where I was off) but maybe it's too much of the right things. A calorie is a calorie, right?

So, how does one get a major woosh? fat fast? water fast? water cure with the salt? Cabbage soup diet?

Ta it looks like you've lost 15 pounds, how long did it take you? Remember slow and steady wins the race. Are you working out? Drinking your water? Increasing carbs when you need to? For some it takes longer but a pound lost is a pound lost. 15 is better lost than gained. Just my humble opinion. Good luck and do not give up!

I can relate to this. I have lost a total of 17lbs and am happy about that...but for the last month it has been one lb/week and is slow. I am losing inches I guess as my pants/skirts are practically falling off(which of couse I am happy about)...but I want a woosh too. I want to see the scale move more than a pound at a time.

I know I need to exercise more...but besides that what else can I do?

Drink your water, drink your water, drink your water.

Take your measurements if you haven't already.

Exercise.

Stay on plan.

Be patient.

Remember... the ultimate goal is to be smaller. You'd be surprised at how much you can weigh and still be a small size. Muscle weighs more that fat.

After induction, 1 to 2 pounds per week is considered the "healthy" rate at which to lose weight.

Remember that "only 1 pound a week" is 52 pounds a year!

I do feel your frustration, Anck - I lost nearly 40 pounds on WW but I felt HUNGRY all the time! Since switching to Atkins, I've maintained, but would I love to lose that last few pounds! However, I love eating this way so much that I'm willing to just wait it out.

It's not a race - take the time your body needs to adjust - hang in there - and vent here if you need to!

I know someone who lost 60 pounds in 5 months on Weight Watchers.

She also lost her hair.

As others have said, slow is better and healthier.

I agree. This is a WOL, much as we want to see results RIGHT NOW! I personally could never stick with WW, even though I lost weight, because I was always hungry (this is my personal experience - I know people who have been very successful with WW). As slow and steady as the weightloss can be on this WOE, it is worthwhile to me because I am not hungry and I find eat so much simpler to maintain my weight.

Anck, may I suggest that you step off the scale for a while? I am a daily (and nightly ) weigher myself, so I can tell you that you will see fluctations of 2-5 pounds every single day. (For example, Monday, I weighed 138.6 - this morning, I weighed 133.2 - 5.4 lbs went somewhere, and last Friday, I weighed in at 132). If this fluctuation is frustrating for you (and for many it is) you may want to consider weighing only once a week, or even once a month.

This WOL works. I counsel patience, grasshopper.

i echo the GET OFF THE SCALE voices i hear here... i dont weigh myself .. havent for some time... exCEPT when at doctors office..that being said.. i know what it is like to obsess over the numbers on the scale.. have done that before... long time ago..
now.. i look in the mirror.. i bend at the waist and notice that it doesnt hurt from the tightness of my waistband... i also notice.. and this is HUGE.. i dont take my clothes off the minute i hit the door... bra included.. because i was so uncomfortable in them.. and slip into something COMFORTABLE (read:LOOSE) if you notice things fitting better.. go with the flow...
like i have said before .. NO ONE and i mean NO ONE walks around with a WEIGHT tatooed on their forehead telling people "OH YES.. i lost a pound" as IF.. people will notice if you look more put together.. more relaxed.. clearer eyes.. looser clothing.. slimmer face ect.. but TELLING them (or yourself.. ) that you lost a pound or two doesnt prove ANYTHING to them OR you.. everyone KNOWS how scales fluctuate..
that being said..(((((((((((((((anck)))))))))))))) .. like i said.. i remember all too well how scale hopping feels... and what it was like to wait and watch it move downward..

heck yeah,, you can call me PANCAKE BUTT!!! *thanks rima*

WATER!!
I find that when I drink at least one gallon consistently, I lose at least 2 - 2.5lbs per week. That and load up on veggies.
And of course, exercise. That's MY advice, grasshopper!

I've lost weight over the years doing WW but always gained it back because I couldn't control my cravings. I would eat a WW treat and eat the entire box!

The sense of control and learned enjoyment of new foods is much easier on this woe. I can see myself sticking with this.

Exercise is essential for all bodies fat or thin. It is not optional. We live in an age of convienence so we must schedule intentional exercise into our lives or pay the consequences. A benefit is you will speed up your weight loss.

If you find out the secret to getting a major whoosh, PLEASE, PLEASE let us know. Especially me. I've lost 11 pounds in the past 15 weeks. Slow. But That's okay as long as the trend is downward in the long run.

Oh what i wouldn't give to loose one pound a week. Now it's more like every two weeks. I do notice that when i eat too much acceptable foods, i can easily gain weight, epecially if it's too much meat.

Started 3/20/03 thru 9/2003
Restarted 1/2/04, this time i will finish what i started.
