Hi- Well I started low carb eating Easter last year. I lost 30 pounds and was feeling great. My overall goal was to lose 50 pounds. Well with the Holidays and in January I thought I could maintain and I started eating tons of low carb bars, chips, ice cream etc and went out drinking alot. Needless to say, I gained weight. I gained 9 pounds back and now I'm freaking out. I am back on track, back to induction. It's been so long since I've done induction can someone post a typical day? I just need some motivation and help. I am going on a cruise to the Bahamas April 30 and would like to lose 15 pounds by then. I started working out again which makes me feel great. I just know I can't eat bars or go out drinking. Also, I have started drinking tons or Crystal Light (added to my water) and it seems to help me get the water down. Any down side to that? THANKS!

Hi Lucky Z and welcome back to low carb. I'd suggest you get the book and take a quick read through it to refresh yourself on what you can and can't do during indcution. This way you'll have it to refer to throughout the 2 weeks. Since you've seen the potential damage the snacky LC junk food can do, you know to stay away from that stuff in induction.

As for the Crystal Light, it is sweetened with aspartame, and Atkins says that should be avoided. During induction you want to try to lose your addiction to sweets AND to the sweet taste of things. I know lots of people don't like water, but adding aspartame to it is not the healthiest choice. Can you make yourself drink it plain until you get used to it? THen maybe you could supplement with a sucralose sweetened Diet Rite drink once you're done with your daily water.

Here's a day in induction for me:

Breakfast 2 eggs 3 pc bacon

snack: turkey and swiss cheese roll up

Lunch: Salad w ranch; beef patty

snack: Atkins shake

Dinner: Chicken breast w/ swiss and sauteed mushrooms, salad, 6 asparagus spears

Snack: cheese or turkey slice

I would recomend looking through at least a few chapetrs in the book again but,

Just stick to meats, cheeses, 3 cups of salad, etc.

Try to eat natural foods, with the exception of cheeses, make sure everything was either a plant or an animal.

Avoid anything processed as well. You have done this before, so you should have no trouble doing it again.
