I agree with taking something low carb with you to eat. Not everyone knows you are low carbing so its not their fault...You just have to accommodate yourself... When I go to visit my parents for the weekend I stop at the grocery store and buy stuff I can eat. Funny thing is I make it and they eat it too...LOL

Terrascant ~ @ fat ladies!

Thanks for all the great advice. Well, I am a SURVIVOR!

Yesterday morning, I made sure to eat breakfast before we went. Which was good because breakfast was donuts, pastries, and chocolate cookies. UNBELIEVABLE..lol

Had I had time, I would have made something LC to share, though yesterday this was not an option. We worked hard till lunch, then went inside. It was like a low carber's nightmare!...lol Not pizza like I thought, but my FAVORITE food from my pre-LC days: spaghetti with homemade sauce, garlic bread, potato and macaroni salad, and then berry pie for dessert. Since I THOUGHT we were having pizza, I had planned on eating off the toppings. Well, downed two cups of full leaded coffee while the seven others loaded up their plates. After dinner, the hostess asked if I was ok. I should have been the one to ask them if THEY were ok..! I said yes I was fine and her sauce looked delicous and that I'd have to get her sauce recipe (filled w/ zuchini, etc-YUM!), which flattered her. At first when I looked at the sauce, I remembered how easy it would have been for me to cheat in the beginning of my WOL, though now it's NOT an option. Before I would have had at least two large plates of pasta and a piece of berry pie, while longing fo the rest of the pie plate! Went back to tree planting after lunch till seven last night.

I did the same physical activity for a full three day period two years ago when I was 40 plus pounds heavier and the sugar and carb monsters lurked deep within me and controlled my life.

I noticed a huge difference from that year of non-lc:

1. I had MUCH more stanima and strength this year, because of extra energy with eating LC.

2. Last time it was harder because bending over repeatedly - as an extra chore bc of my FAT ROLES!!

3. I wasn't starving betwen meals, and dreaming of what the next meal would be as we worked (like last time)!

So, I did it! When we got home I made a beautiful salad, and gave thanks to not caving in to something that is against my WOL, even if it goes "against the grain".

Faith in LC!!!

That's really cool that you stuck with it. Every time one of us passes up on temptation, it's a victory for all of us!

So what is the tree planting thing you were doing? Doesn't Washington have enough trees already?

Terrasanct ~ We have a Christmas Tree Farm & ship the trees to Las Vegas when they are ready. We were helping one of our neigbors plant their trees, since they had helped us before. Thousands of baby Christmas trees, for as far as your eye can see! We planted yesterday and today, and ibuprofen has been callin' my name.. lol
Today we had pizza, so I just ate the toppings off, and passed the rest to one of my boys. I guess I understand how addiction is. Because there is always that voice way way back in my mind, saying "Oh come on, you worked hard today. Is the crust off of ONE piece of pizza going to kill you?.."...lol

Just yesterday morning I got out some spring and summer dresses ad tried them on in front of my floor length mirror - and OH BABY - Let me tell you, THAT CRUST WAS SO WORTH PASSING UP!

Makes it all worth while when they look good on doesn't it!!!!! If I could convince the sag int he front to leave--I ahve a belly from years of prednisone and steroids for my asthma and a baby (who is now 8) that won't seem to leave but my backside sure looks a LOT better!!!!

Congrats on the decision and resistance tactics!

Kit-Kat, I used to live in Washington and we always went to a tree farm to cut our tree. My mom still does. That's something I miss about living in Montana--all the trees are in western Montana, and I live in the central part.

Terrascant ~

What part of Washington State does your mom live in? I live 45 minutes south of Olympia.

It's family tradition for us to go to a U-Cut farm every year too. There's just something about it!

I've always wanted to see Montana. I hope to see it this summer!

Take care,

Crys

My mom and two of my kids live in Everett. I'm from Washington and have lived all over the state.

Montana can be pretty, just not this part of it. But we only live about three hours from Yellowstone, so that helps.
