Welcome to LC and LCE!

I have an upright doctor's scales that I bought at Service Mdse. at their going out of business sale. Maybe someone can give you a good idea on the scales.

Best wishes to you.

Tanita makes a very reliable scale. If you avoid the "body fat percentange" type, they're very reasonable, too. (the body fat measurement isn't very accurate anyway).

I second that Tanita, and gee big surprise Maggie, I didn't buy the body-fat one either....

It seems quite accurate.

Might I also add some unsolicited advice - stay OFF the bloody thing as much as possible! LOL! I mean, take a starting weight, then try to keep away from it any more than once a week...easier said than done but really, it CAN be a big demotivator if those numbers don't move fast enough from day to day or heaven forbid, actually go UP a day or two - which can happen due to so many factors!

Good advice on not weighing in every day! Unless you can achieve a kind of detached attitude and log it every day without emotion, only looking at long term trends, it's better to weigh infrequently.

LOL @ my "separated at birth" cyber-sis!

I'd done some research on the body fat types and it was hard to get any confidence in (or cough up the extra bucks for) something that was going to measure differently depending on how sweaty my feet were on a given day!
