I am 5 ft and 1/2 inch tall and weigh 129 lbs - down from a heavy 186 lbs...anyway, found out the other day that some people at my work think I am TOO thin...perhaps that is why they overloaded me the other day when I ordered breakfast! Anyway, my goal is 105 lbs...is this a reality or is this too thin?

I hope this helps!

That doesn't sound too thin at all. You're the one who has to decide--don't let people sabotage you because they're more comfortable with you being overweight.

Your ideal weight depends on several factors, IMHO; your height, build, frame size, how YOU feel at that weight. A good rule to follow is to calculate your body fat ratio and see if you are in the "safe" range for your height and build. It might be a good idea to check with your doctor. Tell him/her your weight goal, and ask if this is healthy and appropriate for you. This should set your mind at rest and give you "ammo" for when your friends tell you that you are too thin.

And, congrats on your loss so far! You are doing great!

My sister is 4'10 and weighs about 95-110lbs (even after two kids, with another on the way!). She is perfectly healthy and is completely in her ideal weight range. I dont think you have anything to worry about, but I wouldnt go below 105. Good luck!

My BMI program does not like half inch measurements, so I will do both:

At 60 inches (12 inches x 5 feet), and 129 pounds, you have a BMI of 25.2, i.e. you are slightly overweight.
At 61 inches and 129 pounds your BIM is 24.4 which is on the cusp of a healthy weight.

Keep in mind that having a BMI below 23 (in your case, below 118 pounds) will minimize your chances of heart disease and diabetes and other diseases. Thus you will probably be healthier loosing a bit more. Based on the numbers, I would guess that somewhere between 110-120 might be a good place too.

Your goal is 105 which would correspond to 20.5 at 60 inches and 19.8 at 61 inches. This is pretty low, but probably not too low. If you tried to go to anything lower then I would begin to worry.

Keep in mind though that the BMI is meant to be used as an estemate only! You have to look at your own body and see if this makes sense. If you are doing weight training and have a bit of muscle then these weights could be too low.

You are the only one who can decide whether you are too thin or not. Assuming you do not have a distorted body image and can look at yourself and see what is really there, and presuming you are in tune with how healthy you feel, you determine when you are the right weight, regardless of how many pounds that is, or what any chart, diet guru, friend, or relative says.
