I just read an article on the CNN website that Krispy Kreme is planning to debut a "low-sugar" donut for "dieters and diabetics". Is this sick or what??? Watch out folks, soon low carb products are gonna make us just as fat as low-fat products!! This is getting ridiculous!!
Especially since Krispy Kream was one of my binge foods!! I still crave the darn things!!

Better things for better living thru chemistry.

You got to admire American ingenuity. Wherever theres a buck to be made, we go there.

Why not? A little flaxseed, some soy protein isolate, some splenda dropped in a pool of boiling olive oil and voila a dieters dream!

Its quite amusing, companies putting the "low carb" sticker on something and expecting people to gravitate towards it like grazing cattle.

Its all about thinking and having common sense, and above all, educating themselves on the real way to eat "low carb".

Its really funny, my son's friend tried to tell me that his friends mom did Atkins and got really sick, and I told him, well she must have not been doing Atkins the correct way. Its never ending. But always amusing

Don't give them any ideas. I hope everyone here is smart enough to stay away from those with a ten foot pole.

They can kiss my grits!

This really cranks my motor to hear companies going "low carb", which are still selling junk food.

Or when a friend says, "Oh you can have these _______ (fill in the blank - candies, cookies. etc.) because it says right here their low carb. IT"S STILL JUNK. GET EDUCATED.

I'd rather eat something pure and healthy. That of which would make my body happy while obtaining needed nutrients.

I mean really, what will that donut "do" for you? Especially when you think of what good wholesome healthy food will do.

To me, it is ignorance and a slap in the LC'ers face to offer LC donuts. (HELLO-Unhealthy habits like these made me FAT to begin with!)

Anything that'll make a bang, to merely make a buck.

Not even tempted.

Joyce,

In my opinion, you are not missing anything. I do not understand the hype about KrispyKremes.

LC Doughnuts....come on...please....
Isn't that an oxymoron? Or do they think we are the morons? And the worst part is....many are....

I guess there are always two sides to a story...and for some...eating a LC doughnut is better than eating a non-LC doughnut, but for me......I don't get it.

I honestly think that would taste like crap if they tried. LC versions of products just dont compare to the original IMHO (except tortillas!)
Plus, I agree with Joana I never understood the whole Krispy Kreme hype. But then again, I've never been a big doughnut person. A doughnut is a doughnut is a dougnut to me.
Plus, as I say it outloud, "Low Carb Doughnut" there is just something wrong about the phrase.

Bummer! My long post about my love for Krispy Kremes did not go through! Rather than retype all that, it will suffice to say there is no way to successfully "uncarb" a Krispy Kreme and have it be half as divine as the original. Period. I allow myself the occasional indulgence, but the recovery is hard! At least Jif is no longer making chocolate peanut butter!!

Come on now....even the name "KrispyKreme" makes my stomach lurch. It doesn't even sound appealing to me. It's either crispy or creamy! Putting the two together just doesn't appeal to me! OK....rant over! LOL

Kim- I read on some website that a lady was bringing her own l/c tortillas to a Taco Bell and they would make her order with them. I use La Tortilla Factory l/c tortillas, and the last time I was at Kroger, I saw that Mission is now making a l/c tortilla. The La Tortilla brand has no dairy, non-aluminum baking powder, lowfat, fiber, etc. It seems to be a pretty healthy product.I use them for breakfast taquitos,"sandwiches", "pizzas", and quesadillas, etc.
Now, I've never carried them into a Taco Bell, but I guess you could scrape the meat/cheese/beans off their tortilla onto one of those! Try them!-Maxibee
