I saw this so I grabbed it, I tend to try alot of products with almost a 0-1% success rate in liking the product.

I made the peanut butter cookies w/ splenda and boy are they dry, you'd almost need to drink a gallon of water after eating them. heh

The peanut butter is sweetened w/ splenda tho and it tasted good. I wish I had some LC'ers close by who would love to try the products together and trade stuff that we all dont like. The products are so expensive as is, and this would be such a better way to try stuff without having to throw it out after once, it could save some other LC'er the trouble.

I can't help you with trading LC items, since I'm 3000 miles away in New Jersey, but I do know what you mean.

With most of the LC stuff, I either love it or hate it - there doesn't seem to be any middle ground.

Do you have any recommendations for items that you liked?

All natural peanut butter is naturally LC. I would stick to brands like Smuckers all natural...not too expensive and SO GOOD!

I agree with Caroline.

I use Laura Scudder because all it has is peanuts! The salt one anyhoo. No need to buy a special peanut butter.

I don't think I'd want a sweetened peanut butter. I don't think this is a good choice anyway, because it has hydrogenated oils in it.

I'll let Barb come along and tell you why they're so bad.

Is this the peanut butter you're talking about?

Yeah, April, I think it is.

I posted about this stuff in the Carb Options bbq sauce thread. The reason it is lower in carbs than regular peanut butter is because part of its bulk is partially hydrogenated oils: trans-fats, folks, and bad, bad, bad for you.

There are better choices out there; this seems to be just a marketing ploy. I buy bulk peanut and almond butters, ground in-house at a local market. I have also bought Smuckers Natural, and it is good, too.

I started a low carb survey int he forum not too long ago, and there are a number of recomendations there.. I'd like to see one of our moderators pick up on that, and organize it better then me..lol. I bet I'm not the only one who would like a list of tried and liked products... You can check out the one I started tho, and maybe you can add to it.Its called, "Low carb Survey"...

I bought a jar of that peanut butter because on the Nutrition Facts it said 0 trans fat.I used some out of the jar that same day, when I went to put the jar up I decided to read the ingredients(a little late) and there the "dreaded" parially hydrogenated vegetable oils were listed. learned to read the ingredients first and the nutrition facts second. I now use smukckers all natural peanut butter. I think I will take it back to Wal-Mart and see if they will give me a refund.

Ah yes, the hydro fats. I didn't realize some of the peanut butters have those! LOL I never look as I just use the natural type.

That's yet another reason to stay away from those. Why in the heck do they do that? Plain old peanut butter is fine.

I know, I bet it's because of texture. Probably the hydro oils make it creamier. Who cares!

Excellent point ET, we must ALWAYS read the INGREDIENTS LIST, not just the label. Unfortunately, we can't trust what they are saying because they round all their figures.

Just like the butter products that SAY they have no trans fats but then hydro oil is listed in the ingredients. It's a bunch of BS.

I wouldn't buy lc peanut butter, either - as it is already lc...I usually buy the Adams No Sugar Added All Natural PB but decided to stay away from it for awhile...one bite and I want more and more and more. I LOVE PB! But I do have one question about Peanut Butter - what is better to get - the crunchy or the creamy? Just wondering if there is a difference when it comes to health benefits...

I just bought sugar free peanut butter, but I only use it as a treat on low carb bread. I could get carried away if I wasn't careful.

I didn't know you could have peanut butter. I had some low fat variety before I started this WOE and I just now bought some regular PB, mainly for my kids, but I had a bite and I could taste the difference in sugar content from the regular and low fat varieties.

I will look for the Smuckers natural brand this weekend.
