I hope this doesen't seem rude, but the other day i saw an old time friend who recently lost 50 lbs. She's about 30 and looked really close to 40. I don't know if she did hardcore dieting without excercise, but she looked good but aged. I'm honestly concerned. I'm 25 and a few months ago i secretly started using Oil of Olay age defying cream and moisterizors (sp?) because i want to loose my weight, but i'm not ready to loose my youthful appearance...i'm just not ready!...don't mean to offend, just being honest.

I'm mostly concerned because the 25 lbs i've lost have been without much exercise. Is anyone concerned about aging quicker if they loose too much w/o exercising?

Lissette, I get comments on how I'm looking younger these days and I give LC lots of the credit. A good skin car routine, sunscreen and all the water we drink goes a long, long way.

If you're talking about sagging skin on other areas, that is something that we have to deal with. Most of it is genetic, and as we age the elasticity in our skin isn't like that of younger skin.

Not to worry. At 25, your skin is resilient. Keep using moisturizers, and especially sun screen, faithfully. The essential quality of your skin is a genetic inheritance, but you can take good care of what you've got.

At the age of 50, I lost 50 lbs. and I looked ten years younger. However, I've discovered that as I get even older (I'm 57 now), my face looks a bit saggier. Alas. Time moves on. But I wouldn't dream of gaining weight to "fix" it. A smile is the most youthifying feature.

And being at a healthy weight makes me smile a lot!

P. S. I exercise five or six days a week, both aerobic type and weight training. This is the MOST important factor both for maintaining a weight loss and for staying youthful. Keeps your blood circulating, your muscles toned, your heart and bones healthy. Start now!

I've lost over 150 pounds and people tell me that I look a whole lot younger now than when I was overweight.

I do have some sagging skin, but that's because I was so darned big to begin with and some of it didn't shrink back. I also have had 5 pregnancies, so that may have something to do with it.

Genetics also plays an important part in youthful appearances. Believe it.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I echo what Barb said about exercise. Just make sure you're eating healthy foods, exercise, don't expect to lose a bunch of weight too rapidly so that your body will have time to fit into its new skin, and just have a great time becoming the new you.

Hi,

My face isn't sagging...but the rest is! After losing almost 90 pounds the upper arms, inner thighs, belly, and butt are looking like a prune. Not much to be done I suppose, fortunatly no one by DW sees those parts

Being 47 and having a very youthful face, the only thing that give my age away is graying at the temples and a white mustache. I am considering myself very lucky. My father was much more wrinkled by the time he reached my age and he had lost most of his hair. Thank goodness your hair genes are received by your mother!

I don't think that losing weight makes you older. It could be the diet, if you don't get enough vitamins and minerals and you starve yourself you can't expect to se healthier.
But we're drinking lots of water and eating healthy, so I don't think this can happen.
I'm 30 and I don't go to sleep with make up, and use daily my skin care routine, sunscreen is very important.
Don't worry you are very young!!!

Ya know if genetics have lots to do with it than i'm a bit concerned because my mom works out like a mad woman and her muscles are tight, tiny waist and shaply arms...but very aged face. It's like her face doesen't go with her body...gotta go moisturize!

I just turned 30 and have lost about 27 in 2 months. I have some sagging, but since I've started weight training, it's making a difference. Also, I have combination skin..so to fight the sagging and dryness (the moister your skin, the more resilient it is) I have taken a small spray bottle and added a little keri oil (baby oil or viamin E oil would work too) and water and spritz myself all over in the shower, rub it in and rinse quickly to get the excess off. It seems to be helping the elasticity of my skin. Also, taking vitamin E will help.

vitamin E does work good. I take the supplement and do lotion all over. sagging is a problem for me in the stomach area and once my weight is off I want a tummy tuck. most of the excess is from pregnancy. I had big babys

I got a facial a week or so ago and the girl who was doing it kept complimenting on how wonderful my skin was and how I had no blackheads and it was soft and very healthy.

I told her I was on atkins and she asked me how much water I drank a day, I told her usually 96 + oz's. She pretty much said that the water can reverse the aging in your skin if you keep yourself hydrated and healthy.

Remember all poisons also pass thru pores in your skin and drinking water is the only way to keep it healthy.

ooh one more thing

I think not consuming so much processed foods and sugars really does wonders as well for our skin's health.

Lots of stuff to consider

i am also CONVINCED that ACV by the shot.. also applied directly to face and neck... daily.. and celtic sea salt along with TONS of water have made my skin change DRAMATICALLY.. and for what?? pennies a day? i was using some face moisturizer for lines with copper in it that cost me about 18 bucks a tiny bottle... and saw very little difference in appearance from it..
bottom line...I DO NOT run out of ACV .. and i WILL not run out of CELTIC SEA SALT.. its something that i have made a habit.. i cant tell you how much it has changed my life!
*sounding some what like an informercial...*
