I am trying to get back into the swing of things exercise wise. I usually do weight training, and am debating doing BFL again, or another similar program.

I keep seeing links to lowcarbexercise.com on various sites. It is run by the Streets, a pair of trainers. It looks like an interesting program, and I was wondering who here has tried it, and if you have had any success with it. I really need to get exercising again. I do have a gym membership, but I need an alternate in case I cannot make it to the gym.

Thanks

Robin

I would recomend looking at the Low Carb Jumpstarters! board. for more info on the Streets.

Popular excercises here include walking a few miles a day and weight training. Both are helpful.

Hope that helps

Robin I have done weight training in the past along with Jazzersize. Not sure I spelled that right. I dont seem to do well anymore with just a cardio program so I looked into the Streets exercise program and it sounded great! I ordered it yet havent started yet. I also like to do Walk away the pounds.

Blessings,

Carol

Robin, I use the Street's I Love My Body Series for Women and love it. It's very streamlined and effective. I do 3 weight workouts per week (all a different video) and the other days Kate Street describes how to get the most out of cardio in the shortest amount of time. Within 6 weight workouts I saw a noticible change in my body size particularly smaller legs and butt. I wasn't able to get through them until I reached 229 lbs but now I can. I am very pleased with the effectiveness, and compactness because I don't want to exercise longer than is needed for max results.

Kerry

Do you have to do the exercises at home? I have a gym membership so I am hesitant to do a home program. If I did decide to, do you have to buy a lot of equipment?

I am thinking of getting one of the DVD bundles with the weight training and LC program, and perhaps doing the exercises at the gym.

i have a tony little gazelle freestyle elite.. i LOVE LOVE LOVE it... kinda like going to the playground without people staring at you and pointing..*L*... really tones the legs and butt.. fun really really FUN! i also have three pound barbells that i use for upper body stuff.. trying to tone the arms.. losing weight plays HAVOC on arms i think.. uh.. do some leg lifts ... nothing by tape or trainer.. just do the gazelle almost everyday.. 15 mins or so.. and weight stuff every other day.. muscles in the arms really QUICK with the three pound weights.. i also have leg weights but they hurt my skin when i wore them to work under flare pants.. (thought i would be all cool and do some good while at work...) i need to bring them back home and do them OVER my pants like i used to..
soon as weather gets warmer here in SNOWY northern idaho i will start walking again... i live on a mountain.. its good exercise going down.. it is BRUTAL coming back up..*L*

heck yeah,, you can call me PANCAKE BUTT!!! *thanks rima*

Robin - you should be able to do any of the exercises recommended by the Streets (or anyone else for that matter) at your gym - I have slacked off over the past three weeks (naughty, Jen) but when I do exercise, I use freeweights at home, my treadmill, chase the kids, walk the dog and ride my bike (that's more summertime - I am hoping that cycling season will jumpstart my weightloss). Since you are committed to your gym (I wasn't) you have so many options available to you. Is there a trainer available to help you? One thing I have finally figured out is that I have to have variety, so I don't get bored.

What is some basic weights that I should get? I also assume I will need a bench?

I use a nordic trak ski machine at least every other day for 20 minutes. I also have one of those total gyms for some weight training, but I am limited to the exercises I can do on it because of my arthritis in my back. And to top it off, I just got X-rays done and it confirmed that I had fractured a rib a week ago! I fell down helping my son move....

Sorry I'm just getting back.

You need a balance ball. Min of 3 sets of weights. I have 5 lb 8 lb 10 lb. (Eventually I see myself getting 15 lb too)

I workout along w/Kate Street on the videos. I have a gym membership but feel like I waste too much time waiting for machines, ect. I was not consistent going to the gym, I am doing the program at home. Whatever works bests for you. Again, Kate doesn't waste time...she moves quickly from one thing to the next and you are done within 30min. (I feel mildly the next day...but it feels good)

I hate traffic, I hate travel time, I don't like wasting time.. I like efficiency w/max results. I feel like I am getting that. I did shop around.

I just love my Tony Little Gazelle Freestyle Elite. While watching TV, I just hop on it and do my daily excercise for 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the afternoon in the own comfort of my home. Also, on nice days when the weather allows, I walk 2 miles at the park with my husband.
Take Care,
Debbie

road king, so sorry about your rib! hope it heals quickly.
i also belong to a gym, and i love it. spending money on it makes me feel like i MUST go ... otherwise it is just flushing $$ down the toilet!
i alternate cardio (30 min eliptical machine + 20 min bike) and upper body weight training ...
this i do about 3 times a week ...
and then do 60 minutes of pilates or yoga on the alternate days, also about 3 times a week.
i definitely recommend a body ball - they are fabulous for abdominal and back exercises!

Robin - I got my weight bench at Decathlon aports, along with a basic set of adjustable dumbbells for about $150 total. My weight bench has a decline, preacher curl, and leg extensions. It has been just fine for me. I will need some additional weight plates at some point, but right now I have what I need.
