I have been spending allot of time lately at the hospital where my dad just successively underwent open-heart surgery. I thought it was interesting that many of the workers there are on Atkins and the caf has low carb wraps, low carb bagels and promotes low carb eating in their menus. There was enough real food so I didn’t try any. I just thought it was strange because at the heart center they push eating low fat.

That's great! Wouldn't it be nice if they offered patient's the option of a LC menu. I'm sure the day will come.

It's a new thing in Boston as well. I work (research) in a hospital and the other day I was in the cafeteria getting my salad and I noticed a big sign by the deli area announcing that they now carried Arnolds LC bread. I was dumbstruck.

Now if they'd just stop breading everything in the hot entree I"d be able to get it for once.

RKC -

A bit off your point, but I'm glad to hear your dad's surgery was successful and wanted to remind (or inform) you that there are lots of cardiologists out there who support low-carbing these days. Your dad has options if he wants them, and isn't condemned to a low-fat diet just because he had heart surgery. Just wanted to pass the thought along...

Best wishes,
Sky

Thanks Sky.

I really had to bite my tongue when the nutritionist came in and gave her speech and handed out pamphlets on "healthy eating".
