Ok, so for the past few weeks (not sure how many) I've been getting, (SIGH) diarreah Each time I eat?? At first I thought it's just this part of this woe, but then it kept continuining, EVERYDAY, like run run to br! So, then I thought ok, this only happens during the week at work and that's when I drink the most water, so thinking I'm flushing out whatever? But, now it's not going away and I start concluding my own thoughts? Maybe it's the Calcium and vitamin C I started taking (but only at work, I leave them here not to forget during the week, but do forget on the weekends? I take 1000 calcium w/ zinc and magnesium and 600 to 1200 Vit C. Has anyone had this happen w/ vitamins or is it a fluke or what the hay? Anyone have "D" for this long on this woe?

When you are in the first weeks of LC, it's common to have some intestinal "disturbance". Also, increased fat in the diet can contribute. I've noticed since adding a multi-vitamin at night that I'm helped by that. I'm thinking something is in there I'm needing.

OTC medication like Imodium is good. Eating pumpkin (canned is fine) is a natural remedy for this problem too.

Diarrhea for longer than seven days should be evaluated by your physician.

Hm, see I thought so too, but now I'm on week 12? I think I've had this about 6 wks now? BIZAAR... But I can't seem to imagine it being something other than this WOE or the vitamins...?

Thnks

Are you eating any LC products with sugar alcohols? I simply can't eat it, I stay in the bathroom.

You really should run this by your physician, twelve weeks of diarrhea is NOT the norm!

That's a good thought, but nope! I have had some few and far between and it doesn't happen then, only after lunch usually? I eat 2 eggs for breakfast, maybe some cheese for snack then chicken w/ salad or tuna and salad at lunch, I go to work out, I get on the treadmill and have to jump off? It's like as soon as I start moving so do my bowels,

Chrystal, did you eat many veggies before LC? All that comes to mind is the increase in fiber combined with fat.

I really would call the nurse at your doctor's office and run this past them.

Calcium/magnesium will do that. I have the same problem. There's a scientific explanation for it, which I don't remember. Try not to take it for a week and see how you do.

Thanks Rob,

I think #5 might be it:

"Some medications can cause diarrhea as a side effect. These include antibiotics, some heart and blood pressure medications, antacids, magnesium supplements."

Calcium and magnesium supplements I've been taking now I'm gonna stop for a week and see if that helps, but if it does, what the hay about getting my calcium and mag??

I know this is a delicate subject but some people often call loose stools diarrhea when in fact it is just a loose stool, like the consistency of pudding.

According to my doctor, and you should contact your doctor BTW, unless it is coming out of you like water, it is not diarrhea. If it is then your biggest concern should be dehydration

Chrystal,

I strongly urge you to contact your doctor. You could have picked up some kind of bacterial or viral infection. I was once diagnosed with such an infection and my doctor read my the riot act for waiting a week to contact him. You don't need to drink the water in Mexico to catch funky things.

I hope everything clears up soon.

Also, higher does of vitamin C, especially if your body is not used to it, will absolutely cause diarrhea. Vit C is a water soluble vitamin so our bodies can't store it, unlike fat soluble vitamins like Vit E & A. So when we take more of it than our body can use at one time, it flushes it out. Usually in the form of diarrhea! Trust me - I know this from years of reading on the subject of nutritional supplments AND personal experience.

Easy solution, if this is the cause - take a time-release Vitamin C. YOu'll get the same amount but spread out so it won't have the same "flushing" effect on your system! Besides, you are taking it so your body can USE it....if it is getting excreted, what's the point? Time release!

Just my 2 cents....

Mybe a little more iron in your diet will "stop you up". I remember when I was pregnant and they made me take those iron pills every morning, it would constipate me like nobody's business. I had to stop taking them because it was so bad.
