The idea of rotating the meeting locations sounds neat. There is a great place in Houston called Chachos (think of Taco Cabana prices but with Ninfas quality ingredients) that has a HUGE Low Carb menu. Some of things off the top of my head:

Protein Nachos
Any taco or burrito in a lettuce wrap
Tasty Salads
Many more

Oh I could go on and on about this place...
And it's real food too!

Can anyone guess where I ate for lunch today?

All you guys are right down the central corridor -- well except for Abilene --- I'm in "deep" East Texas. We are closer to Shreveport than any of the Texas cities. Once you get things figured out, I'll see how it fits in with my schedule and distance.

You can add El Paso to the list, too! I'm a bit farther from the rest of you but I often go down to Austin to see my daughter! Has anyone thought of an approximate date yet?
Just please don't schedule this from May 26
to June 8 as I'll be in Alaska.

They say that the farthest two points in the state are Texarkana to El Paso. I could get to Chicago quicker than to El Paso-- and that's driving, not flying. Texas is a BIG state.

Hi, Judy! My best friend lives in Lufkin. I moved from there to here about 12 years ago. My sister and I drove from Dallas to the New Mexico border to visit our parents a few years ago. We drove for 12 hours and were still in Texas. Try that anywhere else, (except maybe north/south in California)and you could go through many states! Good thing we can all be "close" online! I'll check in and see what's up for the get-together.

I agree Texas is a really BIG state! It appears I may be the only West Texas LC'er in this group. If you keep the get-togethers in
Central Texas (Waco, Austin, San Antonio,
Ft. Worth/Dallas, I'd have more of a chance
to get to at least some of them. On the
other hand, my husband and I are planning
a trip to Houston the weekend of June 18.
He's also an LC'er; in fact, he's the one that
got us to start Atkins together.

Thanks, Carolyn, for getting the idea going
for a get-together! It'll be fun!! By
the way, my daughter lives in Leander and
absolutely loves Austin!

Ok, looks like we have some takers for this get together... So lets start throwing out some dates. Someone said not May 26-June 8,
someone else said June 18th they will be in houston.
So... WHy not everyone write in and say when they are not available... I was thinking sometime in mid june (if not sooner) but we could get it together as early as mid may...
ok.

Mid June is fine with me. I was thinking Waco so it wouldn't be an overniter for some of us. Of course, to our friend in El Paso it would be an overnighter about any where else in Texas...

Carolyn,
I'm the one who said both
I expect to be in Houston around June 18
but will be in Alaska from May 27 to June 8.
If we meet in Central Texas, mid-June would
be fine!

Does anyone know far Waco is from Austin?
I go to Austin often since my daughter lives
there...

I think Waco is about 1 1/2 hours north of Austin.

I can't think of anything major I have planned for mid-June. DH's birthday is the 7th, but no big deal! Is it going to be an all day thing or an overnighter? I would be more than happy to carpool with Dan or anyone else in the DFW area. Or, if the meeting ends up in Dallas/Ft.Worth, someone can stay in my guestroom. Whatever. I'll keep checking in.-Maxibee

I'm in Dallas and would be interested in an LC get together. I already have a couple of trips scheduled in May so June would be better.
