Greetings everyone! When I began this WOE I weighed myself only once per week, on Saturday mornings. The first month I dropped pretty steadily and then started to slow down in the following weeks, so I stopped weighing myself.

I got on the scale at week 10 and the scale indicated that I had officially lost 21 lbs. (yeah!).

Well, I got on the scale over the weekend and it was UP 4 lbs.!! Now, I have incorporated Tae Boe into my exercise routine within the past month and have also started allowing myself the occasional (1-2 x's/week) LC "treat" like mock danish or an Atkins bar, so I am not too upset about the "gain" because I know I am going down the right path and that this is NOT A RACE.

Now I think I am afraid to step on the scale again for a long time because I don't want any unpleasant surprises. I've been backing off on measuring myself as well because the measurements haven't been changing that much, except in my waist.

Is once a month frequent enough to weigh myself and still feel a sense of accomplishment?

some of us prefer the once a month weighin ( see the Weigh - No way challenge in the challenge forum.

I know I am happier with the monthly weighin - I'm just going to let Curves do it regularly and take their 'losses'.

I have had periods where I also had a fear of the scales. I would go months without weighing, I have to admit that it was a BIG mistake. I didn't catch weight creep until I was up 10 to 15 pounds. I'm not saying I didn't know I was gaining, but as long as I didn't get on the scales I could be in denial. If you wear stretch pants and sweats most of the time as I had a tendency to do, you can justify not weighing, because "My cloths still fit" Well, I would never admit my cloths were expanding right along with my body. So now I weigh every day. even if I don't like the numbers on the scales . Weighing every morning and keeping a record of it is the only way I will be able to keep the weight off this time. I refuse to gain this 15 pounds back for the 20th time in 20 years. This works for me, but may not be for everyone. Good Luck to you....

I have found that even the best, and most expensive scales has a tendancy to flucuate some. I weigh every day cause I can't stand not knowing if my weight is the same or not, but it does get discouraging doing it this way. I have stepped off the scales, and then stepped back on it, up to 3 times, and gotten a different number all three times. And mine is a good pair of scales. I think "there is none good, no not one" also applies to bathroom scales!

i was weighing my self once a week.. then i started to weigh more often.. when the weight was comming off slower.. so i stoped weighing my self.. i noticed an increase in weight when i did weigh my self but i had also increased my work out. and weight training so i took it as i was gaining muscule... and my sizes started to drop... now this past week when i weighed my self.. almost every day i was dropping like crazy.. i havent weighed my self since thursday.. but as of thursday i had lost 7 lbs.. now i had to subtract the weight i had gained.. so i lost 3 extra lbs..

if you gain. and havent been cheating.. you probly are gaining muscule.. dont get discouraged

Oh thank you! I think hearing about your situations has helped me decide to get back on schedule of weiging myself on a regular basis. Maybe every two weeks - it might be enough to keep me motivated but not so much as to discourage me.

Have a great LC day!
