Hi. I am going to get a physical for the first time in, well, maybe ever. I just think I need to go and have my cholesterol checked, and my blood pressure was at 80/50 this weekend, I need to find out if that is ok.
SO, I'm wondering, are there some questions I should be asking regarding this WOE or even in general that I'm not thinking of?

thanks for any info you can provide.

Your blood pressure looks a bit too low to me. I don't know what to advise about that.

Many doctors are against Atkins. If you find yourslef in a situation where you have to defend your diet, tell your doctor about all of the salads and veggies that you are eating, any health improvements, or anything else positive that you can think of. Don't be surprised if your doctor thinks that this is an all meat/cheese diet.

Started Atkins on 9/20/03

If she has problems with the plan I'm just going to tell her straight up. It is better than taco bell and Jack in the Box for every meal!
thanks guys, and the appt is 3/18, so if you think of something I should get checked out, I'm quite new to this, so lemme know.

Heather
80/50? Are you sure? Where did you have it tested? If it was one of those drugstore bp machines I wouldn't put much stock in a reading like this. A cuff that's too tight or too loose can mess up a reading. Let us know what the Doctor coems up with.

Thanks, Rob. It was actually two different techs with stethescopes and a watch. the cuff thing measured at 101/66 an hour or so before that. I'll let y'all know next week what happens.

Heather, wow - we have a few things in common it seems. I'm from Texas too and I'll be seeing my doctor this Friday to get a physical for...well, the first time too!

I was already planning on what paladin suggested, in case I get scolded for this WOE. Go armed with knowledge and let us know how your visit turned out - I know I will!

Cool Patricia, we can compare notes when we get back. I'm originally from the Houston area, Alvin to be exact, and now live in Austin.

Good luck!!

me too. I'm scheduled for a full physical on the 25th. Can't remember ever having one before (probably did, but I suffer from CRS)- ought to be interesting.

Well, I don't get my lab results for another 2 weeks. I will keep you posted on it.

My doctor and the nurses were actually Pro-Atkins, which was interesting. I didn't have to defend myself or anything because they all seemed pretty knowledgable about it. Even one of the nurses was doing this WOE!

I have a physical and work scheduled for next week, but probably won't hear anything for awhile.

I'm anxious for my May appt with my pulmonary dr. They sounded so surprised when I told them my asthma was so dramatically improved. I can't believe this isn't something that has been coming up before.
