Probably a dumb question, but how do you get the smileys to go into the message? Whenever I've tried to use them they've ended up beside the "title".

Yeah, I don't have an option to put them in the text, either. There is an option if you scroll down which says "disable smilies in text", but my box is not checked, so I dunno.

Sorry. :(

The only way I put that little frownie face in there is to do it the old fashioned way....a colon and a left parenthesis.

Which mode of editing did you guys choose? It's under Options in the User CP, way down at the bottom of the page.

It would help to know which edit mode you're using, since there are differences.

Let me know and I'm sure we can figure it out.

(one sure way to get them in is to pull up the list and type in the code ... : confused : (without the spaces) is

You won't see the smilies themselves until you Preview or Post your discussion or reply.

Mine says the same thing. Anyone know how to do this?

Mags:

I'm using "Basic Editor - a simple text box."

Should I be using the WYSIWYG? Is that where I'll see the smilies options?

Smile Re: Posting question

Go to User CP (upper left hand side, top of the page). Go to edit options; go to the bottom of the screen to Miscellaneous Options and choose Standard Editor - Extra formatting controls. Click on reply to thread, and you should see many new smilies on the left, with an option to bring a new window for even more.

I had a list of about 10 of them to show off, but the system apparently stopped me at two...

also, if you are using the quick reply window - you don't get them. You have to do the 'Go Advanced' button on the bottom to get the more robust replying - which has all the cute little smileys.

you can only use two images per post, and smilies count towards that.

this is to conserve bandwidth, make the pages load quickly, and look nice.

If you guys want more, I can bump that number up some. Let me know.

That is probably enough for most posts. IMO saving bandwith is probably worth it.

Okay. I see it now. :eyes: I saw this format when I first took a look-see around the new boards before I was supposed to be doing it. I WONDERED where it went.

But, yanno what? I just posted something over in the Curves thread, with a quote, and my signature didn't appear.

And it's not appearing in this post, either. I didn't change anything.

Hmmm.....

The signature will only appear once on a page, to save space. If you have a post already on the same page, it will not appear until a new page is started.
Confusing, but this was announced by Andrea.
