What time of the day is the best time to test for Ketosis? Before meals, after meals, evening....?

I must be ketosis resistant, I rarely have more than slight to moderate results. I stick pretty close to 20-30 carbs per day. I have loss a significant amount of weight and I use ketone stixs for motivation but it'd be nice to see some purple.

Judi,

i think i read once to test in the late afternoon -- but i can't recall the source

I am one that never got a reading higher than trace

I dont have much faith in the sticks, but can always tell if i am in ketosis

you seem to have lost weight well -- why use the stix as a crutch?

If you are showing at *all,* then you are in ketosis. It's kinda like being pregnant, there is no "little bit" -- either you are or you aren't.

Hi Judi,

I find that the evening is better in my case. Though I'll admit that, for me at least, it doesn't matter. I show moderate to high most days.

I usually do it right before I go to bed. I've read on here before to do it at night & not morning.

As I drink so much water during the day, I don't think they would read much so I check mine first thing in the morning.

I also get mine off ebay where 100 would be under 5 bucks after shipping:

I have the best most consistent results in the evening before dinner. I have used them on and off as well through the last 3 months as a way to be certain where I am for carbs--yes I write everythign down and count them out, but I also keep track of it taht way--I lose the strips and stop losing at about 45 carbs a day. So I do find them helpful.

I use them occasionally and I usually get a slight pink, almost like it's just wet. But I'm losing weight so I just be careful to try and eat legal carbs. Someone suggested that she ups her carbs on the weekends by adding five and decreasing during the week. That seems to work for me, too. The theory is to keep the body guessing. (I'd insert an icon here but don't know how

I was just going to post a question about this to see when the best time is to test. I have noticed that after work, 5pm, or mid afternoon I am in ketosis but right when I wake up in the morning I am not. I wonder why???
