Default Valuable Lessons I have learned at Lowcarbeating.com

1) If you eat off plan for a meal, a day, or even a week, don't concentrate on the failure, rather the success of the days you did stay on plan. MAKING A MISTAKE DOES NOT MEAN IT IS OVER!!! If you had not been on this woe in the first place, you would have had all the days off plan rather than just that one.

2) Drink your water! It excretes your fats, helps your kidneys, and does too many other scientific stuff that all you need to know is drink lots of it!

3) From Rachel - a long time ago - hot flaxseed meal with splenda in the morning for regulation...muah to Rachel

4) From Wolfman..I think...The 3-minute chocolate cake..thank you...

5) Eat plenty of veggies ...especially leafy green ones

6) Each person is different. What works for one might not work for another. LC foods, weighing daily, coffee or not, soda or not, aspartame, ketosis sticks, exercise, yogurt, kefir, apple cider vinegar, colon cleansing, vitamins, among a few.....the best advice is read everyone's opinions, research, experiment, and find out what's best for you.

7) Don't be afraid to open yourself up and make friends. They help, give advice, lend a shoulder, listen, empathize, and kick you in the butt when you need it.

8) Don't ever call anyone a "dork," they might get offended. (Smiles...that is sort of a personal one)

If anyone would like to add what they have learned, I think it shows our appreciation and teaches newbies and some of us oldbies as well.

I'll add a couple:

9. Plan, Plan, and Plan .... if you plan your meals, and your food, you will less likely fail. It is when you don't plan that you are tempted to eat off program.

10. Keep track of what you eat, use fitday, or another tracking method.

11. Exercise if not daily, than at least 5 times a week.

12. Don't beat yourself up over failures, but look at it as a learning tool, how did you feel after eating that, etc....

This is a great thread idea! Thanks, Joanna!

I've learned how to open up with total strangers and have been so moved by the friendships and connections I've made here . All the support and encouragement is invaluable...there are so many special people here with so much to offer. I'm grateful to you all!

In terms of eating: water, vegs, and ACV!!!

Ditto to all that has already been said. I would have been off of this plan and doing my same old eating habits by the time I had stalled for the 3rd week if it were not for my friends I have met on this board.

I have also learned that there still are some really good people in this world. Which I had started to doubt before finding this forum. It gave me hope in so many ways.

I have learned to be patient with myself and with others instead of expecting perfection and tossing this whole wol with the first screw up.

I have learned that if I spend all my time on this forum my finances quickly go to hell in a handbasket! LOL

What I have learned is that sometimes a stall is just that...a stall. And no matter how much you complain it is still a stall. But boy does it feel good when the stall finally breaks!

Joanna-
I wish I could take credit for the 3-minute chocolate cake but I do not remember (unless I had cut/pasted from another site...).

But YES! LCE has taught me 100s of small lessons that have not only helped me but any of my LCer friends/family (who will listen... )

LCE supported me enough to actually make it within sight of my goal and to make this a WOL that gets easier everyday to live with.

Congrats!

. . . that any one day does not make that big a difference in the great scheme of my WOL

. . . that this is it, the LAST time I will have to do this, because I have found a plan that works with my chemistry

. . . that Wonder Bread is indeed NOT necessary for life

. . . that I can eat all the wonderful things I love and still be thinner

. . . that I am responsible for my choices, and understand the consequences

I never knew before this how different foods really affected my body and my systems. I am so grateful not only to the existence of LC, but to all of you who have helped me with your posts and replies to me, and to others. Even hardcore lurkers can't help but be educated just by reading through this site, without ever posting themselves. I could cry sometimes from gratitude for the existence of this site. The books are wonderful, but there is no substitute for life experience, and you all are my heroes. Thank you.

Joanna and all
You've learned a lot.

The 3 minute chocolate cake was first introduced to this BB by Mikeyrat. I believe he found it on another forum.

I, too, have learned a lot by being a member here. The knowledge and encouragement found here has made my goals that much easier to achieve.

One thing I've gleaned from reading other's experience and responses was said so well many years ago in "Desedarata"; "Be kind to yourself". That is one of the best pieces of advice I think I have ever read.

Thanks to all!
