| I'm sure this has probably been discussed in the past... To attempt to increase my water intake, I have started using the Cold Brew Ice Tea bags from Lipton. I have a sports bottle that I seep (sp?) a pitcher size bag in for 10 minutes. I know tea is a diaretic (sp?) but it has increased my water consumption 400%. It allowed me to drop the 2 pounds I put on last week.

| do you drink it black? I know i have always read -- water needs to be calorie-free, water but i find for myself... i'd rather have some liquid than nothing at all OH and i think only caffinated tea is a diuretic -- correct me if i'm wrong |

| I drink it straight cause the cold brew brand tastes sweet enough for me. It is caffeinated. It has 27 milligrams compared to a 8 oz cup of coffee that comes in around 127 mg. It diffinitely makes go to the restroom alot (but so does water when I drink it...).

| If it helps you get more fluids, and also helps to get rid of some stored water weight I don't see a problem with it. Much better than sugar free sodas of any kind. I drink five cups of hot brewed tea every day. |

| Good question - I was going to ask the same thing. I agree - the sugar-free sodas just do me in... it's good for a "treat" but that's where it has to end. I'm "OK" with drinking my water but I need some kind of flavor and have been making a "weak iced tea" to keep in the fridge, I use 1/2 packet of Splenda to sweeten just a little (and count those carbs!), and it seems to be OK. And yes - it increases my water intake BIG TIME - after drinking a glass of tea (made with water), I usually feel like drinking another 12 oz or so of plain water. It really encourages me to drink more.

| My boss (MD) says for any caffeinated beverage you drink, you should drink 1.5 times as much WATER to counteract the diuretic effect. So I've pretty much given up on all caffeine. If you have trouble drinking water straight, try adding a couple drops of lemon or lime juice to it, and to keep it as low carb as possible, you could also use a couple drops of liquid sucralose sweetener. OR get yourself some decaf tea bags and you can do the same thing as that "cold brew" - I do it that way and just call it "sun tea" - works great. I especially like the decaf Constant Comment that way - it has enough flavor to drink it without sweetener. Char

| I have had to "spike" my water for awhile now. I have yucky, eggy well water and I didn't realize it was nauseating me until I figured out I needed a new filter for the water dispenser in my new fridge. Of course I've been trying to buy a new filter for a few weeks now and Sears is all out and doesn't know when the next shipment will arrive. |

| OH CHAR! That takes me back. I remember my grandma making sun tea in the summer all the time. She had a pool and would always stick the huge jug on the end of the diving board and let it sit there for a few hours. I would watch the clear water slowly turn into swirls of amber and then a dark, hazelnut color by the end of the day. Then, with our tea in hand, we would GORGE on black plums (brought over by the paper bag full by the lady next door) and spend the evening swimming. Ah, the simple life... And yes, ditto above. If it helps you get your water in, that's great!

| Specialk1969, you should be able to order what you need from Sears online. That's what we finally resorted to when the store didn't have what we needed and we didn't have to wait on them getting it in.

| LOL, thanks Kim. I love to write. I'm working on some travel journals right now but it's just for fun. Nothing published or anything! If you like, you can look at some of my travel pics on my site. I've just barely started putting it together so none of my journals are up but a few neat pics. www.travelchick.com

| Hi Deannie, I did try to order filters online but they were out, too. Go figure. Anyways, I went to Sears this evening and they finally had some in. I am happily drinking plain water again, yahoo! Karen |
