've got a Tanita -- had it for about 4 yrs now.

i find the Body fat part of it is NOT accurate so i dont use that, but the digital weight part of it is right on.

when i go to the DR office -- i weigh first thing in the AM and dont let them weigh me... i just tell them what i weighed in the morning -- those scales are never right -- plus you are wearing clothing and probably have had 1-2 meals plus at least 64 oz water.

I've got a Tanita, also. I was never interested in the fat measurement since I'd already learned, from other members and some research before buying it, that it's not a reliable indicator of body fat percentage. The "plain vanilla" models, such as the one I own, are very reasonably priced but very, very accurate. (I've lugged mine to the dr's office right after their scale was certified and found that it's right on.)

I hate to weigh at the Drs. Office!! I always weigh four pounds more on his stinking scales because I have my cloths on. :crying: I wonder what the nurse would think if someday I wear a robe and houseshoes to my appointment, and when she tells me to step on the scales I step out of my cloths first.

naw... dont go that far... just put it in your mind that it is GOING to be that four lbs over... and mentally subtract it... heck.. most of the people who weigh ya are probably not liking to get weighed themselves...

If you just say "I don't need to get weighed today," most nurses/PAs/etc. will just say "okay" and take you on into the room. I've done this many times, and never had anyone even hesitate. As everyone here has noticed, most of the time there is no real reason for it anyway. If there is a valid reason, they'll tell you what it is. BTW, I have a Tanita scale, too, and I like it better than any scale I've ever owned.

I fully admit to being an obsessive weigh-in freak - I'm looking for a twelve step program. I have 3 sets of scales, LOL. My favorite is a Taylor Large Dial scale from Target.... even though I have had it checked out several times, it's always about 4-5 pounds less than any other scale in my house. I have a Weight Watchers Digital scale upstairs, and I hate it! It fluctuates so badly - I can I weigh myself first thing in the morning, walk around my bedroom and weigh myself a second time, and it's always 2 pounds difference, up or down, but it's never consistent! It is my nemesis.... but I can't get rid of it. I have this overwhelming need to conquer it. I also have another analog scale, just a plain ol' Wal-Mart special, it's my favorite, because it's always right in between the two.

I admire all of you who say they have no scales. I'm obsessed. I've tried to quit... but they just call to me. I'm an addict. (Acceptance is the first step, ya know?)

welcome to the obsessive weigh-in club Deany, i too am obesssive too, i only have 2 scales, i like you have the taylor large dial scale, and my upstairs is the cheap one that fluctuates all the time. but for some reason whenever i use the restroom i have to get on the scale, lol. now i know in my mind i will see fluctuations throughout the day, and the only reading that i take serious is the one i get first thing in the morning and i know that i only weigh in my undies, but hey i have to do it every morning.

now a positive side to my daily weigh-ins is that i caught one of my enemies, that made me retain very quickly and i nipped in the bud quickly before it caused too much damage. so for me weighing in daily is a must. i have to know how my body reacts to everything on a daily basis, not much as the lost as is the learning.
