Default Help! Sick and not hungry at all :(

It's that time of the month for me and I've had bad bad symptoms the past couple days and I almost feel like I am getting the flu. I have also had no appetite and I'm starting to feel weak and shaky. Normally I would be reaching for some crackers or toast to calm my stomach but that's a no-no now. I have been trying to sip on an Atkin's shake during the day and keep up my water drinking but I'm really feeling horrible. What are some things I can eat to keep up my energy that wont tear up my tummy? Right now I am drinking some warm chicken broth but I really need something solid for my stomach to gnaw on. :(

TIA everyone...

Lauren...eat what your stomach can tolerate for now...if that's crackers, then have a few. The chicken broth is a good choice...I'm just getting over a bad g.i. bug and that's about all I ate the past week.

Lauren,

what are your flu like symptoms?
are you still on Induction?

to make a long story short -- i was LC'ing about a 2 weeks and i started feeling like i had the flu... achy, very run down, etc. (no stomach troubles though) and it truned out to be more of a detox thing -- which i thought i never got.

As Tara said... just try to get nutrition anyway you can. I know eating meat is very difficult when the stomach does not feel well.

warm and liquid always works well.

if you are shaky and weak -- you need food/calories

there is a recipe for Green Soup in the database -- it's fabulous

it's a chicken broth base, with cream cheese, cheddar cheese and veggies
all thrown into the blender and then in a pot to heat.

you will get the fat to keep you fuller and good nutritens from the veggies

every time i'll under the weather -- i make this stuff.

but if all you can get down is crackers and warm 7-up (diet)
then do it... you have to keep up your strength if you are sick.

Hope this passes quickly and you feel better soon

I had a hard time when I recently had the flu. Chicken broth was good. I also used some Atkins bread and made a grilled cheese sandwich. Yogurt, too. I wasn't really able to eat veggies all week but made an effort to keep my calories up.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I don't know what's wrong with me at all, it's so strange. I'm just really lacking energy and feeling drained right now. Plus my stomach is acting really finicky...
I am done with induction and I did experience a bit of fatigue at first but that quickly passed and I was full of energy. I threw out all my crackers when I started induction. Good thing too because I would have ate the whole box by now.

Lauren:

Can you provide us with a typical days' menu?

Hugggggs.....hope you feel better soon

I for one grabbed a box of the new Lipton Carb Options cup of soups just in case I ever feel the way you are. Who knows if they'll soothe my stomach...but I'm saving them just in case.

Okay,
Here is what I eat during an average day:

Breakfast:
2-3 egg omlette
2 sausage patties

Lunch:
Huge salad with boiled eggs, cucumber, tomato wedges, a little bit of cheese and green onion. I use the Kraft Bacon Ranch dressing.
I also frequently have a few scoops of tuna w/mayo on spinach greens for lunch too.

Dinner:
Grilled chicken breast with a bit of low carb ketchup on it and a huge helping of green veggies. (I eat asparagus and broccoli usually)

Snacks:
Pork rinds
deviled eggs
Occasional Atkins shake (I dont touch any of the low carb bars though)
Cream cheese mixed with splenda and cocoa
(I dont usually eat all of these snacks in the same day. lol.)

and I drink lots of water. I have a PUR pitcher that I try to refill and drink twice daily. I spend a lot of time running to the bathroom now. lol. I take the atkins basic #3 vitamins and Omega oils.

I am feeling a bit better today. My appetite has returned for the most part although I still feel a bit worn out. Our town is having a huge fair type thingie this weekend and there are loads of vendors with fresh BBQ. Lots of people roasting pigs! yum. So I am making myself get out of the house to enjoy some barbeque. My husband was laughing at me because I'm going to take along my low carb ketchup and ask for my meat plain.

<3,
Lauren

Sounds to me like you either had a bug, or tom was just wearing you out. I know my first tom on this WOL was extreme. they have finally settled down a bit, but still coming 3 weeks apart. Like clockwork.

I think your menu looks great. If you just started this month, sometimes it takes a little adjustment - but then you will start feeling more energy than before.
If you haven't just started, maybe its time to start increasing the carbs a little (more veggies, nuts, fruits)
